I created a new dock ...

Well, since no one bothered to answer this post, I did some research on my own. It's not the fault of my dock ... it's just that Object Dock does not work properly on multiple monitor set ups.

No matter which dock I use, if it has a visible spacer, then the side dock spacers all show up on the primary monitor rather than the one on which the dock is located. I guess it's just a bug in the program.

So, I'm making due by not using any spacers on any of the side docks.

Well, you asked if anyone has ever run across this...and apparently, by the lack of response, no one had. Should we answer the post "No", therefore, wasting space and not really helping or just leave it for someone who has had the problem? Not trying to be an ass, but your tone came off rather stiff with the "Since no one [I]bothered[/I] to answer..."

Next time I'll interject a story about the 14 year-old American Bobtail cat named Princess I just adopted.

Yes, I expected at least someone to say that they had never heard of this rather than just ignore the post entirely. Even that would have been more helpful than no reply at all.

The question I posed ... whether anyone had ever heard of this ... was, after all, a yes or no answer. I really doubt that a simple "no" would have taken up that much space or more than about 4 seconds of anyone's time.

And, since I have 20 cats myself, I probably wouldn't have minded reading about the 14 year old bobtail cat named Princess either.

My tone was exactly what I intended it to be. No one did bother to answer the post ... not even to say "no ... that's strange." Not every question requires a completely technical solve the problem sort of answer. Sometimes a simple WTF will suffice.

Sometimes changing the title of a post just a little will get responses.   

You could also change the forum category.  

Change it to what, Philly?? Not the title, but what category do you think would have been more appropriate? Not asking in any way other than to get some real information, so that if this (or something like this) happens again, I'll have a better idea of where to post.

I would try Stardock Support. Now contray to it's title, most answers there come from members of the community, especially on the weekends.  

And why not the post title? Look in the forums, only the first line appears. It doesn't show that you are looking for some help. You don't see the second line until you actually open the post. Just a thought.   

WTF? there ya go Ricky...a simple WTF for ya. Honestly I try not to respond in posts that I know nothing about. I don't make docks so I can only say....WTF?

Not to mention there are alot of posts that don't get responses until a few days later because they get missed amongst the many posts that are placed everyday.

Some people want a "sorry . . can't help" and others will be upset by someone sticking their nose in an contributing nothing.

Me?  I might respond just to bump it up to the top of the forums; especially if it's posted on the weekend.  Otherwise . . I think it's better not to post "nothing".

As for the title you chose . . it looked like an advert for a dock and I only read it because messiah, josh and philly were involved and the post count was going up.

Accepting good advice graciously from folks is a good thing. 

Ah, but Zubaz, whether or not you can accept good advice (graciously or not) depends on actually getting some response to the post. Even a "post this somewhere else, dumbass" would have been fine with me.

I absolutely think posting something ... anything ... even "I just got a new cat" ... is better than complete and total silence. The only conclusion I could draw from that was that the post was not worthy of a comment.

For the record .... I don't personally give a hoot if someone sticks there nose in and contributes nothing. At least they stuck their nose in, so I know at least someone read the post.

Philly, thank you for the suggestion about making the post title more complete and not depending on the subtitle to get an idea across.

Killajosh, thank you for the WTF. Doesn't matter to me if you make docks or not, for a question like this, any input is welcome.

And .... I certainly understand about not posting on the weekends. I doubt I will do that anymore. I wanted to skin my other computers, so I posted to Stardock about whether I needed to purchase additional Object Dock and Object Desktop programs to do that. And ..... Sunday night (having not gotten an answer and really wanting to start on the project) I went ahead and purchased another set.

So, naturally, today I get an email telling me that I didn't need to do that. Go figure. And, yes, they are giving me a refund .... but not being able to communicate with anyone for two days every week certainly is a pain in the rear.

Hey, but as long as I'm bitching .... how long does it usually take for them to approve a dock?? Even if it's just to relegate it to your personal page?? I posted my AK dock at the same time as I posted the AK icons. The icons went into the main gallery immediately, but the dock is still languishing somewhere. Granted, I made it to go with my Post Apocolyptic Kitty wallpaper (which no one but me particularly likes -- and what the hell, I'm going to do a full pack of it anyway, so there), but still it seems odd to have one item go up right away and the other not for several days.

Not being a moderator I would think there are a couple things that affect skins in moderations. One would have to be the amount of skins uploaded for that gallery library, and what type of skin it is, the more complicated the longer the moderation. Just my thoughts.   

Good to know your wants.  We can only wish they were shared by everyone we could all act consistently. 

In regards to your dock icons; different moderators manage different queues so the dock moderator may not have been around.  Or, as Philly said, the queue was backed up. Or, there was a problem or question with your docks and a second moderator opinion is required but . . . the AK dock icons are live and have been since 3/29/08. Ricky, I think when skins are uploaded into moderation it says it can take up to 4 (or is it 5?) days. Patience my friend.

You've got four screens?....we used to dream of having one....just so as we could see what was happening when we moved the mouse...... :NOTSURE:

I noticed the dock icons made it .... but it's the dock that seems to be stuck in limbo. It's just that I made it specifically to go with those icons, so it's just a bit discombobulating to have it be in limbo.

Yes, four screens. It's just that I used to have homes in two states (California and Texas). When I moved everything to Texas, I suddenly had extra screens so, I decided to hook them all up to the one computer (and use the second computer for spare parts).

I think in future posts, I will make my own personal policy regarding replies evident. Espcially when the technical expertise of the answer is not an issue.

And, I think I will trundle my butt over to the Support forum and post the issue with the side spacers. It is an odd bug after all.

Well, I tried to upload it about 5 times. Each time I get a message telling me that the preview file is not a jpg ... which it is.

So, for now, I think I'll just give up. It's a nice dock, but five tries is my limit for any one day.

That worked. Now, I got the wait five days message .... but of course I got that message back when I uploaded the dock the first time.

So, we'll see how it goes this time around. Snicker ... now I love this dock. I think it's the best one (out of two) I've made so far. So, what do you want to bet this one ends up being rejected for the main gallery??

Eh ... it's all good either way. No one seems to like the poor little PA kitty anyway. However, since I love the little bugger I'm making a whole skin for him (starting with a Rainlendar).

I can answer this one...the jpg file SIZE it to big...bring the actual mb down a bit and try again. I had this exact same thing happen and that was the fix.   

In this case it wasn't. The jpg file was (1) very small and (2) uploaded at only medium quality.

In addition, all six times that I uploaded (including the last one which actually worked), it was the exact same jpg preview file.

Nice suggestion, however. But ... in this case, something else was the problem and I will probably never know exactly what it was.

And in what way was I not tactful, messiah1?? I did mention that it was a nice suggestion, and that was not said sarcastically. You might want to learn how to read posts without inserting your own subtext into every word. That, or grow a thicker skin.

I don't see that it's somehow not tactful of me to state the truth, your suggestion, however well intentioned didn't happen to be correct. Get over it.
