Fleet Admiral

    Any one else think it would be a great strategic angle to the game if each fleet had an admiral. You decide what ship to put him in, you could have him in the center of action or hidden in some corner of the system? If an admiral is killed, the FLEET has an 10% reduction in dps for like 5 mintues, until another admiral gets promoted. It would be like taking someones Queen in chess.

I think you've played conquest frontier wars... it had this admiral thing
A very good game.

Every once in awhile, Sins will remind me of Conquest just a little bit.

I think it's the similarty in the "star hopping" type campaign feel you get from Phase lanes/Gravity wells (Sins) and Wormholes/Star Systems (Conquest).

Conquest, the good old days. It would be nice to have the fleets on a F# (F1 for first fleet) hotkeys. I found that some times it was hard to get hold of the fleet in the empire tree.

This was one of the really cool things about Empire at War - different characters had bonuses to the entire fleet... like having Grand Moff Tarkin in a fleet gave everyone 10% more fire power or something.

I'd like to see this as you gain levels and actually make the capital ships more like characters... because that's really what a capital ship is - it's one ship that enhances the entire fleet it's a part of, not just one big tank. It would be cool have trees like:

-> Offense
---> Missles (level x)
---> Lasers (level x)
---> Fighters/Bombers
-----> Bays (level x)
-----> Damage modifier (level x)

-> Defense
---> Shield Recharge Rate (level x)
---> Deployable Missile Platforms (level x)
---> (you get the idea...)

-> Fleet Bonuses
---> Damage modifier (level x)
---> Maneuverability (level x)
---> Speed (level x)
---> Range (level x)

Then when you build the initial ship, you'd choose just like you do now - and each one would have different numbers in these given areas... but then from there, when you level a ship up, you can choose where you want to dump your points in. That way you actually customize your capitol ships, so your level 10 carrier may not be anything like someone else's level 10 carrier!

... sort of like how the space stations were in GalCiv II, but mobile :)

Anyway, just my two cents

I think your sytem dakkon76, would work best if it was each time you build a new fleet, instead of the leveling the capital ships, you level the fleet over all. The first fleet, is your home fleet, and there fore is your most powerful. The next fleet is less power, in order for the system not to be miss used. Thougth it should be that there are more power ups then points to spend.
