Merchants won't trade

I send my trade ships to other alien planets but when they get there they just stand there they won't start a trade route.  What am I doing wrong?

You need to target the planet as the destination for the ship. When the ship hits the planet it will start a trade route (or tell you you can't). If that isn't working for you...I can only ask, are you sure the ship is fitted with the module required for trading?

He'd get a message telling him that was the issue if they were filled though. I can't help but think he either isn't targeting the planet or the ship isn't even fitted with the trade module. Could be a new bug that isn't affecting everyone too, though.

Another posibility, that is probably unlikely, is that he's at war with the race he's trying to set up the trade route with.

I have no idea if you would get a message telling you that you cant st up the route in this case.

It may be just like that cosmetic colony module that sometimes appears. You see it, you can click on it, yet it's not a functioning module.

AF_Ronin, are you using the stock trade ship, or an upgrade from it? If either of those answers are yes, then try to make a trade ship from scrap and see if you get the same result.

Don't feel too bad, just last night i tried to invade a planet with a constructor. Yep, i really did. As the thalans the 2 are both round and i didn't notice (since i had building some of both everywhere) until it finally got to the planet and nothing happened.
