Lag after 30 mins in ICO Match

Every time i try to play an ICO match with friends online, after about 30-40 mins, they start lagging, the game freezes for 20 seconds, then it continues for 5 seconds, then they lag again. 20 mins of game time can take over an hour IRL, does anyone know what could be causing this?

Check to see if virus scans are occurring in the background (doubt it if its recurring like this, but possible). Are your friends actually lagging, or is just a connection issue, do you know?

We need more info!

no virus scans, it just seems that once combat starts, the lag starts, and wont end at all. when i look at the network from my screen, it shows me with 0 ping (im the only one that can host of the three of us) and they jump from 300 to 3000 every 3-4 seconds.

Is this a multiplayer only issue or does it also happen to you in single player?

Only in multiplayer. some days we can play with no lag whatsoever, some days we get a little, and sometimes we get a freeze of 20 seconds, then the game goes fine for 5 seconds, then another 15 second freeze

Sounds like a network latency issue to me. Have you tried a pingtest to your local ISP's gateway?

On the "laggy days" try the following

From the command-prompt:

ping -t xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx > pingtest.txt <-- where the x's are the IP address of your ISP's local gateway.

Let that run for a few minutes, then Ctrl-C (break the run) and find the pingtest.txt. If there are many ping values that are above 20-30ms I'd suggest sending a copy of the pingtest.txt to your ISP and asking them to look into it.

You could also perform a trace to the IP's of some of your friends to find out if there is a particular "hop" along the path that is lagging you out.

Again from the command-prompt:

tracert xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx <-- where the x's are the IP address of a remote friend.

thanks,

ill give that a try. my ISP is sorta my school, im in a dorm, but its odd, these slow downs happen at the oddest times. sometimes its 4 in the morning, sometimes its 1pm, we never know when it will happen.
