Please state the nature of your technical emergency...

...in GREATER detail.

(Preferably a step-by-step run-down of what you did.)

got a message to update sdc, clicked to update, update complete, then went back into od and found i could not get anything to work, clicked on at least 10 of od and nothing happens not a twitch, or a message, nothing.

usually SDC requires a restart after updating... don't see that anywhere in your steps

thank you will try that, cheers.

OK, I'll take a shot............

but still will not launch any utilities of od
End of quote

SDC = installation maintenance program (it only installs and updates Stardock programs)
Do you mean it will not install or update any programs?

then went back into od
End of quote

you did mean SDC.....right?

but still will not launch any utilities of od
End of quote

You would launch the programs from their Start Menu folder.........

I'm not sure you are actually talking about SDC (Stardock Central), could you be referring to Object Dock (od)?

As an alternative, you might want to log onto irc at #stardock around 3pm UK time and ask for Zubaz......he can help you.

got the message that sdc was updating, let it update then i clicked on wb6, would not launch, then tried all the other utilities and the same thing except bitmap, all of them would not launch, no message or anything else, just nothing. did however cancelled the update and everything worked fine, only when sdc asked for itself to be updated, it then would not let me into any of the object desktop utilities, so it is the latest update, i now cannot cancell the update and am stuck with the updated sdc and object desktop is now useless. added to which is the fact the icons on the desktop have been stripped of any colour, and every icon on desktop is a white sqare with writting underneath the icon, have tried to uninstall then reinstal to no avail, so presently am stuck.

find your equivalent of : C:\Program Files\Stardock\SDCentral

look for the 'restore' shortcut - double click it = it will roll SDC back

Damn, I always thought that was a warning light that came on just before your computer went into self-destruct mode.... ;)

daygo, can I offer some friendly advice? Stay calm. Stardock support is awesome and they WILL get to you. Remember that last weekend was Easter...a holiday. I'm sure it takes time to get to 4 days of support requests (assuming you emailed support, that is). Games, customization software....you get the picture.

Remember that SD is a small company. They don't have hundreds of support staff based in foreign countries (like MS) able to help 24 hours a day...for a fee. SD support is free, but you must be patient.

From a previous comment with a few modifications to be more in tune with this current issue you are having -

A few simple steps to follow:

Try un-installing SDC and re-install SDC...

Short of that: uninstall ALL Stardock software including SDC, reboot and reinstall SDC and Object Desktop software

Short of that: Format hard-disk, and reinstall everything.

Short of that:

1. Back away from the PC.
2. Press the Off switch on the Computer
3. Wait until it shuts down.
4. Unplug it from the power source.
5. Store the Computer in a safe place for posterity.
6. Drink beverage of your choice.

Cheers.

It would be in your best interest to take a computer course and have someone who knows computers help you setup SDC and Object Desktop.

The number of issues you have reported is above and beyond the norm for how SDC and Object Desktop programs install and run. This is not Stardock software related and can only be attributed to something you have done to your setup. Take the time to learn the basics of computers.

Sometimes when a system gets messed up as this one seems to be, it is better to start from scratch - format and re-install everything.

My comments are not intended to belittle you and are only to help you.

This isn't possible. Updating 1 stardock program does not cause all other stardock programs to suddenly stop working.
