update serial?

What does this do exactly? When I clicked on it, I entered my serial, and then Vista asked if the program was allowed permission to execute, which said yes to. Nothing happened after that though.

It's for changing the serial recorded in the game's registry. Pretty much the only use I can think of is for those who purchased multiple copies for LAN play, to make sure they're using the right serials on the right number of machines.
