Error when installing.

I get this error when installing Sins of a Solar Empire "The system cannot find the file specified" The error occurs when the status bar for the installation comes up. I'm not sure how to fix it. I would hate to waste 40 bucks on a game I know I love already because I can't play it. Can anybody help me?

Also, the game installs correctly on my laptop (not a gaming machine at all) and has no problem, so the DVD is not defective.

I can only guess that your DVD drive is having trouble accessing the disc on your main computer then.

You're not out of luck though. Just download the game through Stardock Central. If that's not an option, I'd contact their support at https://www.stardock.com/about/contactus.asp or I believe you can directly email them at support@stardock.com

You may also want to tell us if it's giving you a filename for the file it can't find. There may be some possibility that it needs some certain software like .net Framework 2.0 for example and that could be easily installed.

There isn't a filename given. The installer opens and I get-

Status: Windows Installer

Right after that green bar fills and the program installation begins I get the error message.

I have .net Framwork 1.1 right now.

I did download the game from Stardock Central and it still has the same error upon installation.

POST EDIT

Sorry, missed what you wrote earlier (I blame the time):

Guessing it's not a hardware related problem in that case so disregard the below.

Hi Endbuster,

Although it's far from an ideal fix, but what you could do is use your laptops DVD drive to install the game on your main computer using a network. Just share the DVD drive of your laptop and access it on your main computer.

If you're unsure how this process is done, please send me a PM and I'll explain in detail.

Best of luck and hope to see you ingame soon!

Yeah, I figure its a software problem. I installed some other games to see what's up and they install just fine too. This is the only game that has ever given me such a problem.

So, I see so many other people with the same error as me. Haha, WHATS GOING ON!?

I suppose its time I just give up and check the forums to see if anybody managed to find a fix. I've spent over 14 hours trying.

Reinstalled OS
Checked all hardware for failures
UPDATED EVERYTHING
...etc

Nothing works insofar.
