Download crashing

    Hi,

I have recently purchased Sins, and every time I try and download it using Stardock central it crashes my machine.
I had problems when I bought GalCiv II and at that time I had to switch off all anti virus software as well as the windows firewall as well as the firewall on my router.

I tried that this time and it fifn't help.

Any advice on how to resolve this problem would be appreciated.

Need some more details. What part crashes the machine? During the download through Stardock Central? Right when you start the download? Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling SDC yet?

Also what kind of system are you running?

It crashes at different times. I once got as far as 75 percent download, but a second attempt crashed at 25 percent.

I am running Windows XP SP2 on an AMD Athlon 3200+ with 2GB or RAM.
I have 37 GB of free space on my HD.

I have as yet not tried uninstalling and re-installing SDC? Is this a a common solution to problems with downloads?

I have a 3GB cap on my ISP and as such can't try indefinately to download the game. Given the size I can only try a a couple of times a month before I reach the cap.

Well uninstalling/reinstalling is very much a blanket fix most often. Due to digital downloads and ISPs packet loss issues maybe 1 in 50 people get a corupted download coming from anywhere through any service. I could gripe for a long time about the service I got down in Florida,... but I won't.

One thing you could try in order to limit your downloading and reinstalling is this.

Stardock Central: Tools > Settings > Internet > Refresh XML data.

Also in the same list you can also try changing the server you are downloading from. Should that not work try uninstalling/reinstalling.

I uninstalled and then noted that I didn't have the install on my machine any more.
I have tried to download the install 3 times but each time it is coming down corrupt and the install fails.

Any advice on how to resolve that?
