Visual Effects Vanishing

After playing a game for a while, no matter how many units are on the screen at one time...EVENTUALLY the visual effects will vanish, aka guns will fire, will hear the sound, the enemy will take damage but the shot itself will be invisible, also when ships explode the explosion will be invisible..the ship will just disappear.

If I save the game at that point and load it again...it will return to normal only to vanish again after I'd say 20-30 minutes into the game.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

I have this same exact problem and it's so annoying!

Bump in hopes that somebody at SD/IC sees this or at least acknowledges that the issue exists.

The issue has been noted quite a few times around here that I've seen and yes, I get it too (especially when playing as the Vasari).

With any luck, it'll get a fix in the next patch.

The issue has been acknowledged, but locating the cause is proving tricky AFAIK.

If you see this, save the game and send it to support@ironcladgames.com, they might be able to make something of it. Make sure to note what the save is for, of course :)

I have the same issue where ill loose the visual & sometimes the sound effects to the units... the music is fine though... but it will be gone for like 30 min and then come back... and sometimes its not at the same time... the sound is fixable by just going to the sound menu and moving the sliders up then back down... but loosing the visual effects i just have to wait it out...

It wouldn't do much good considering if the game is saved and reloaded it looks fine...it would appear to me that the system is removing the particles in a hope to keep the framerate the same, its just a theory.

We've acknowledged this one many times, the posts just keep getting buried. We haven't been able to make it happen yet so we haven't been able to fix it. As soon as we can reproduce it, we'll have a fix in the next patch. :)

That depends on what exactly is stored in the save. If anything in the engine is re-initialized when the game is loaded, of course it will work. But that doesn't necessarily mean that the original save doesn't contain any useful info they can debug ;)

I'm not claiming to know exactly how it works, but it's a possibility :P

Just posting to confirm this issue also affects me. It always happens if I play Vasari, but not any other race.

Both the visuals for the weapon effects and hit effects do not display. Occasionally you may notice a quick display of one weapon effect or two when zoomed in I found.

My graphics card is an ATI HD3850 running 8.453.0.0 version drivers.

Same with me, it happens while playing Vasari. I'm using a 8800GT with the 169.25 drivers.

That's an unrelated (and known) issue with ICO updating nicks.
