Bugs with 1.03

Okay, first off... the developers put a lot of work into 1.03 and I like most of the changes. Thank you for fixing certain things that pissed us all off. But I'm posting to let the developers know about a couple of bugs I found after first trying v1.03. My first game was set up as follows:

Single Player

1v1, I was TEC, Comp was Random Normal, Map was Close Encounters, Teams were locked, No Pirates, and Everything was MAXED Speed. I started the game... it loaded and went to the Victory Screen Immediately, I'm good but not that good... you know what I mean. A game should atleast happen before I win?

My second game was set up with exact same stats except for map: I played Quick Strike. With Pirates Turned OFF. The game started and the pirates were shown as DEAD in the Pirate Screen Panel and yet they were still on the map. They still had a freaking HUGE army at the Pirate Base location? I would have figured that turing them OFF would remove them from the game. Not a big deal... I just thought you guys should know.

 

Keep Up the good work I look forward to v1.04 and hopefully a future EXPANSION Pack!!!

 

And maybe these small bugs could be addressed... THANK YOU!!

yeah i've got some bugs too... like one... i cant zoom into the map to get to look at the planets at any sort of tactical level...

and like your bugs with instantly winning.. im instantly defeated! rotf.. i was like hua???

i just tried some different combos... the game wont play for me anymore... rotf hope they come out with a patch for that sheat Qawick~! wowow i wonder if it has something to do with the mod I'm running? I'll have to remove the game and reinstall it again tomorrow and run it sigh without a mod to test to see if that is the problem.. I'm tired right now though... mutters under the breath.

Mods need to be updated for 1.03. The gameplay.constants file in 1.03 is changed, and if you have a mod set to "load on startup" with the old gameplay.constants any map will be auto-lost on start. It's not a patch bug, but mod compatibility.

The pirate bases themselves are part of the map design, they can't be dynamically removed by toggling an option. The only way for the base itself to not exist is to have another version of the map without one. What the option does is make them "inactive", meaning even though the base is there they don't raid.

But yes - if you're having severe problems that no-one else is, the chances are it is because of the mod you're running, which was undoubtedly designed for 1.02. If the developers had to support every single third party mod in their patches, they would never be released. Ask the person who created the mod about 1.03 compatability.

Just found an annoying bug.

Loaded a game I had saved this morning. Teams were locked and the only different option I set was large fleet sizes.

After loading, I am now getting loads of requests for missions and my fleet capacity is now -56!!!! So obviously the modifiers for fleet capacity are not working after load nor are the other options remembered.

This seems like a fairly problematic bug. Anyone else have this? Any advice?

This one's also known, to fix it just refresh the game options when you load - before clicking Start, just go into Game Options again and click Accept. The correct options are there, they just need to be refreshed.

sorry I'll try to keep my English in the realm of the king's own. :D ;) that was a little absurd of me to post that like that :LOL:

also noted that the mod's have to be updated to match the prospective patches! thanks i should have spent some more time reading the threads, it was really late and i was bleary eyed to begin with.. :SNIFF!:

Also noticed that. After loading the saved game that started with locked teams teams go to unlocked.

Tnx, I missed #6 when reading somehow.
That doesn't change the fact that settings should be remembered in saved games, so I still consider this a bug.

I loaded my second 1.03 save game today, and in addition to my 'teams locked' setting being forgotten ( i do see reply #6 and will remember for future) one of the factions in a 4 player map came up as defeated upon load, even though that faction still has 5 planets...

The AI can surrender before being completely wiped out. Once I had one surrender with 4 planets left, so 5 isn't a stretch. Do you know for sure if the AI was still active when you saved, and only showed up defeated when you loaded?

I think I know for sure... - I'd just received an AI mission to destroy their tactical structures when I saved and quit. On reload I immediately received a message telling me they had been defeated....maybe the AI did a surrender check upon load?

That's pretty strange, I've never seen this and yours is the first post I've read on the issue.

I don't really know what it could be. I suppose you could watch the two replays (one that leads up to the save/quit, and the other that picks up on load) and see if you can figure out what's going on.

I say if it happens again, send the save file to support@ironcladgames.com and describe what happens so they can investigate, because it might be some strange AI quirk.
