My Novalith won't build?

Goes to 1%, stops.

What gives with this? Okay, here's the situation.

I'm playing an absoloutely huge map - five stars, dozens of planets and stuff on each of four stars which were started with one and only one player.

The fifth star is mostly wormholes, a few planets, and a Pirate Base.

I've got the pirates in my sights, so I've got a huge fleet of capital ships ready to rock and roll in on the pirate base, but just one phase jump upstream from the pirate base is a newly-conquered planet.

I decide I want to do this the really easy way, and unload that Novalith cannon I spent so much money researching on the pirates, so I try to build one in this upstream planet.

However, it stops construction at 1%, and the construction frigates move on. I've even canceled all the other queued production in the system, and ordered one ship directly to build the Novalith. It builds to 1%, with 27 health, and then stops constructing. The ship will not build it, no matter how many times I right-click on the Novalith, or even specifically order it to build the thing using the icons from the toolbar.

What gives?!

Hmmm i have seen this question on some dutch forum also :)

You sure that the research of the cannon is ready? Cause it is possible to "que" a novalith cannon while you are researching it.... Altho i assume that cause it is possible with other building/ships that needs to be researched.

Yes, you'll have to wait for the research to finish before the big guns will start building. This is true with all research that unlocks buildings/units - you can queue, but the research needs to finish before production starts :)

Did you perhaps lose a military lab on another planet, taking you below the 8 required for the Novalith?

Or maybe the tactical slots planet upgrade wasn't finished yet?

My friend last weekend was also reporting similar problems with the Novalith cannon specifically. It may have had to do with the tactical slots not being upgraded, but I'm not sure. Seeing a topic with someone having a problem with the exact same structure makes me wonder.

Good point on #1, however if there aren't enough tactical slots he wouldn't be able to place the building in the first place, unless those upgrades are queued also :P

this happened to me with logistics buildings and the problem was my logostics planet upgrades weren't done so i think that is the problem with you (tactical slots though!) and if it isn't, then that's just wierd!

Hmmm, maybe this is what happened: The OP queued the Novalith while the tactical slots where still being upgraded (he mentioned it being newly conquered). When it didn't start building, he canceled all other construction, *including* the planet upgrades. Now the Novalith can't build at all and will stay at 1% indefinitely.

Okay, let me adress these questions:

1: Yes, I have all eight research stations.
2: Yes, Novalith Cannon is fully researched.
3: Yes, the planet's tactical slots are all upgraded.
4: No, I didn't cancel the planet improvements, just the structures.

5: It didn't just, like, refuse to build, it started building, built 1% and 27 HP worth of the building, and then stopped.

Witch means that the research or planet upgrade needed is not done yet. Thats what happened to me I just waited and it did finish eventully. It's only cause I know that does what you describe.

oh and the most likely reason it's the novalith is that it uses ALOT of tactical cap. And it happened to me before with another structure that takes alot of cap, the phase stabilizer, so if it's a true bug it effects more than the novalith. (possibly every structure)

I've had the same problem with a Temple of Communion for the Advent, even uber late game where I have so much defence that even large fleets would be held off for a while.

It's not just the cannon.
