Weather not working

The weather docklet is showing "N/A" and when I enter location info, it says "Retrieving Weather Information...", after a few minutes, it says "Feed Not Available". I don't know if it's Objectdock or AccuWeather that's screwed up. Anyone else having this problem?

I am having this problem. It started a few days ago and since then it always shows as N/A. I tried changing the location to something else (New York, NY) and it still failed. I can get the weather from the accuweather.com website so I know there is current info available for both NY and my real location (Toronto, Canada).

The easy answer could be that something is blocking it from getting the information, maybe firewall. :NOTSURE:

It could be a problem connecting to accuweather, it could be a problem with a firewall, it could be a few things. I have had this problem sometimes. I usually just assume that its just having trouble with accuweather. But I have noticed that sometimes if I quit and restart objectdock then it connects.

Hey, that worked. I closed and restarted OD and it could connect again.

(Not that I want to have to shut it down and restart it just to get the weather working but it's good to have a workaround.)

Thanks!

Ok, so I got the weather to work, but something doesnt make sense.
In firefox, I run WeatherFox which updates via AccuWeather.com as well. My weatherfox will show that the current temp in Haslet, Texas is 74, as will AccuWeather.com, but the weather docklet will show 78. I have noticed this ever since i have installed it that it has not once read the same temp as what accuweather.com shows for my zip, yet it is the same provider for the feed. Any clues?

Object Dock and Firefox are running on different feeds and filters. There was a decent amount of discussion on how the docklet would interact with the servers. My guess is that FireFox chose to  filter and run the data themselves where we take in the feed from AccuWeather and they handle the data.

I think that so long as it does not say you have a twenty degree difference or one of them tells you it is snowing it should be ok. I have a few different weather gadgets on my desktop that work for AccuWeather, the Weather Channel, and one or two more and they NEVER agree on anything.

Updates in the current beta of the Plus version corrected some of thoes troubles as well. Either way I will mention it to the developers to see if there is anything that could be added.

Just purchased ObjectDock Plus. The weather not being current is a significant issue. ObjectDock reports 68 degrees. Accuweather.com reports 76 degrees on its web page. The Yahoo! weather widget reports 76 degrees. Weather.com reports 78 degrees. A one or two degree difference I can understand, but there must be some seriously unacceptable lag (or a bug) to generate an 8 degree difference. Love the docklet, but it's not useful as it is.
