Do you name your capital ships and planets?

I do. My home planet is always named "Homerun," my first asteroid is always called "Rock" (creative, I know :-P), my first volcano planet is always called "Volcanoes," and the names of the ice planets and desert planets usually vary between names.

When I play as TEC, I always use either the Kol Battleships or the Carrier and I always name my Battleships that have an adjective and then animal, such as "Hungry Animal" (which I name my first battleship), "Fiesty Animal", or something. I name my first carrier "Enterprise" and then if some come next, I name them after Star Trek ships. If I have any other capital ships, which is rare, I usually name them after foreign cities.

What about you?

I name my homeworld "Hamsterland" and my asteroid "Asteroid." Then the other planets are things like "Puppyland," "Hoth," "Squeak," and so on. Basically things that I'll remember.

My first planet is always named Homeworld. I'm too fond for it. As a new capital planet is designed, it is named as well Homeworld, then the other is named something else.
