Go Big or Go Home Achievement

Well I'm wondering what race and strategy I should try to do this Achievement with? To me I'd think the Vasari Capital ships would be the best pick but I'm beginning to question if the TEC ones would be better.

Also do you think it'd be possible to mix this Achievement with the specific race ones where you only research one side of the tree? Any suggestions or topic debates would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Go big is the easiest with TEC. You have more cash as TEC and thus can afford more capital ships quicker. You need to finish this game quickly, and you probably want to use a small map.

There's 6 research achievements so combining at least one with Go big is a good idea indeed. Easiest with TEC civilian research probably.

You don't really get -that- much more cash so it doesn't make things much easier. TEC is a good choice because having dual Dunovs will go a long way towards making sure you don't lose any cap ships. Once you start building up experience on your ships, it should be a cake walk. Advent have several good abilities, and I don't particularly like the Vasari cap ships.

Advent would be the best IMO because they all have wonderful abilites that stack upon eachother. Plus the mothership has that wonderful AoE sheild recharge ability. Advent cap ships also get stronger the more you have and the more varity of them you have. Since you can do combo's since as the taunt > vengance > malice > sheild regen while stunning their cap ships with revivie (sp).

Also your probally going to want to get the colonizer cap ship first, otherwise you have to use a frigate. (Thus failing the achivement)Or pay the high cost to allow for a second cap ship.

You could do it with any one you want.....I did TEC just because I was knocking out the 1 of each TEC cap ship at the same time. Advent ships have great synergy, Vasari have great powers, and TEC ships are sturdy and can tank a bit better without the need for fodder. I think it comes down to your preference.

Advent by far. The Clairvoyance ability on the Revelation cruiser is priceless for scouting if you can't build scouts to do the job.

I found the novolith cannons pretty useful in this one, so TEC would be my recommendation. Multible Kol's and Marza's doesn't hurt either.

Well I did it with TEC. I set up 3 fleets of Cap ships. I also accomplished the TEC capital ship one(hadn't done that one) researched just the Civilian tree and got the Achievement for using no Tactical slots as well.

I also picked up some black market Achievements I hadn't accomplished yet. Was very fun and took me just under 5:30hrs. I used a custom map with no pirate raids. I pretty much used Culture to lead me to victory. Became quite simple once I nailed my income down. Then the last 2 hrs. of game time was just methodically moving through the galaxy exterminating all Vasari pigs and Advent evangelists.

Anyway thanks for the suggestions all and I do agree I think with the Advent it would be even easier, especially with their culture dominance they can attain.

I did it with TEC while doing the No civilian research, only military. In retrospect, it would've been better to do no military, and to use Advent, because scouting with Cap ships is a royal PITA, so using clairvoyanve would be much easier. And having trade is really nice when you need to build capital ships.

Point Blank map, TEC. Rush out a Kol and immediately raid the opponent. AI generally builds a weaker capship, so you will win. The pirates can help you bomb him out. GG. 5 minute achievement lol. No research necessary ;)

Did it again later on a medium map vs three AI, as TEC while doing the win-as-random, TEC civilian research and max-capship achievements. Again, Kol as mainstay, with the support and bombardment cap ships in support. That was a longer game ;)
