Bug or oversight?

Hello,

I have used several skins so far. At this time I use Ares by Mike Bryant. Like it a lot, except for the task bar which looks ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!

How that you might ask? Simple! I use two monitors 1920 x 1200. And because of that I have my taskbar not at the bottom, but at the right side - vertically. About 5 cm wide. With added Quick Links icons, so I don't have to have any icons on my desktop. Perfect solution.

The problem is that most (all?) skins are not prepared for such kind of usage. The taskbar button bitmaps are aligned to the overall taskbar design. But that one turns around here by 90° - the task bar bitmaps do not. And of course the dimensions change too, especially with the Quick Link icons.

No problems with skins that don't have special backgrounds for this, like Diamond.

Now my question: as I don't expect to ever see a skin especially made for my way of working, I would like to at least remove the background bitmaps of the Quick Link icons in Ares, so the taskbar does no longer look so awful.

Can anybody tell me how to do that?

To manipluate the skin as such you will need to puchase Skin Studio Professional. OR under settings check the "Ignore the taskbar and startmenu.... setting.

I will not purchase Skin Studio. It's not about the money - it's about the time that I do not have to fiddle around with this stuff.

So I tried tip 2. That one is interesting:

- Other than the Settings claim, the startmenu stays unaffected. So I now have the Diamond taskbar, but still the Ares startmenu (perfect for me, I am not complaining!).

- But there is something terribly wrong: All Quick Links Icons and the normal program button text of the currently focused window are written in a super-big black font (size 30 up)...while Diamond would be white and small (10 or whatever)...
