Can only apply suites that were packaged with the mycolors icon showing upon download any others wont work

(EDIT) I noticed that when downloading suites. The ones that are packaged and use the mycolors icon are the ones I actually can apply. any other suites, like ones that show the thememanager icon instead wont load, or partially load. so no longer do i think this is a user error. but now I think it is due to some problem reading the different packaging formats.
what is the difference to the different psuites icons when downloading.

btw reinstalled mycolors as it was causing no conflicts.

I seem to be having A problem loading certain suites. I can load some no problem. but others wont load anything but the cursor ,and the icons,
In particular I been having problems with getting the skins and wallpapers to load.
why would some suites work and others not? what system info would help you solve this? for example the theme Airlock , loads fine, but the theme alien mind only loads the icon and cursor(no walpaper or skinsor anything else)

Is there A certain procedure reccomended for switching suites,(besides applying them from thememanager) I mean such as ,do I have to completely restore the default desktop before the new suite will apply? because sometimes A suite will partially apply then stop. leaving me with the icons and cursor of the new suite, and the skin,widgets, and wallpapers of the old one

I am running the purchased version of desktop x fully updated

win xp sp2
ati radieon x1300

I run norton antivirus and spysweeper. I added thememgr.exe to norton exclusions already.I have downloaded several suites and only got one to actuallt apply. that was airlock .
the rest either do nothing when i click apply this suite . or they just load icons and cursors

ok I tried to go to my folder containing the suites. which is located in c:/documents and settings/all users/shared documents/stardock/thememanager/ now when i find them if i click on the themes it starts mycolors.
why would it start mycolors? if mycolors wont even let me apply the themes.

still cant load but a small few suites i have .
does noone have any suggestions?

for a lot of us, MyColors and the rest don't play well together - MyColors comes with it's own versions of the apps the ThemeManager loads - seems to cause a conflict

uninstall MyColors and see if the .suites will load with ThemeManager

I uninstalled mycolors. rebooted. and tried to load a suite. same thing happens though. so it must be something else.

when i go to apply a theme . thememanager goes through the motions as if it were applying the theme.

yet when i look closely. as it moves along loading things. it is UNCHECKING THE BOXES
next to each option , as in cursor xp, bootskin, wallpaper, ect. all the way till the end , then i have no options checked anymore and it exits without loading anything

sometimes i get a warning about malicious script loading.

sometimes thememanager will load icons and cursors,and walpapers,

but only a few of my suites will load all the way.
here is the themes i have as suites

airlock (will load completely)
alien mind (will load icons and cursor only)
airleen (will load almost totally ,fails to load a few widgets,get a message saying logon studio is no longer registered)
artwork (will not load ,unchecks options as it goes along)
basic aquarium (will not load ,unchecks options as it goes)
copperdeck 2 (will not load unchecks options as it goes)
cyberskin (will load completely)
days end (will not load ,unchecks options as it goes)
doublet (will not load unchecks options as it goes )
galactic civ 2 (will load completely)
leatherbox (will not load ,unchecks options as it goes)
l k (will not load unchecks options as it goes)
mac pc (loads completely)
my da (loads completely)
nemesis (will not load ,unchecks as it goes)
pix office (loads wallpaper ,unchecks as it goes and exits)
quest (loads completely)
r grill blue (loads wallpaper,cursor ,unchecks as it goes and exits)

so you can see that this is something that happens to some suites and not others . the question is. what the hell is causing thememanager to not load some suites.

Is it some script blocking issue?
A data execution provention problem?
spysweeper?
am i missing some key program?
i thought it may be bootskin but the suites i can load they deal with bootskins also
anyone got any ideas. ?

you know... been reading Zubaz' stuff so long I can't read normal English anymore...

ThemeManager applies bits of themes utilizing various programs = WindowBlinds, Iconpackager, CursorXP, DesktopX, etc., etc., etcetera

In order for .suites to apply, the various programs need to be installed


MyColors on the other hand comes bundled with the programs needed to apply the MyColors "suites" - it's very own WindowBlinds, IconPackager, etc. MyColors won't apply other suites, only MyColors suites

So, which programs - other than WB since you posted that info - do you have installed

i have all of the software installed as far as i know. i purchased object desktop and went ahead and downloaded every item that it allowed me to that was not for vista

also. i am not applying any suites using mycolors. for some reason when i download a suite. mycolors opens .then i close my colors and open thememanager. then i select the theme and apply it.
why mycolors has anything to do with this is beyond me,but it opens every time i download a suite . i dont use mycolors for anything.

as far as suites go. i have everything i can think of installed .

only suites that show the icon of mycolors when i download them work.

My colors is no longer able to run regular suites. to run the non mycolors suites you must use theme manager instead.. theme manager can not apply my colors themes..

ahh ok.. maybe ur fire wall? mine refuses aplications at times to work correctly and or apply new items. you might turn it off while your trying the switch themes and see if thats it..
