Nah, not lazy developers. These guys work under stringent publishing time-lines. In some cases, they are even restricted on the amount of patches they can produce. Been there done that. It's one of the reasons I left the gaming industry.
Sometimes they miss things, I mean hell, they're only human. Most often it's the unforseen things (like these multi-player mini-dump issues) that crop up which throws a wrench in patch based game improvement after a release. Unfortunately the success of a game is dependent on the court of public opinion. All it takes is a few hundred adamant critics, and some bad reviews of a product to sink it. It is by no means simple. It if was, all of us would be game developers.
Stardock isn't known for shoddy products. They'll get it taken care of.
I just wish they'd hurry! We'd like to finish our 8 hour massive LAN game, because it was just starting to get good!
