Paint.net

Paint.net

I am searching for a Graphics Editor program that I can afford. Came across Paint.net as it is free. Wondering if anyone uses it and what your opionion of the program is. I found it ok but wish it had better help files. I'm sure most use Photoshop but it is too expensive for my blood. Any thoughts on Paint.net anyone?

The GIMP *can* be overwhelming. If you are familiar with Paintshop you can try GimpShop for a more consistant UI.

I think you meant if you're familar with 'Photoshop'.... GIMPshop is nothing like Paint Shop Pro.

I was using Paint.NET for my old cursors. It's pretty good!

Has anyone tried Inkscape? I've installed but haven't used it yet, however it does have tuts and help included. It's open source and available here: http://www.inkscape.org/download/?lang=en

Yeah. I always use Inkscape for my vector graphic needs. It's highly recommanded, but it can't do raster graphics stuff like PS can. It depends on your needs.

Paint.Net is very good...better than Gimp I think. I tried the gradients on Gimp and they pale in comparison to Paint. Net. Version 3.0 is the one I have. Learning curve is much simpler than Gimp and I agree with Duke 261...GimpShop is too much of a pain in the rear. Version 2.0 of Gimp isn't too bad but...Paint. Net blows it away.

FYI: You can import gradients on GIMP or make your own. ;)

I would suggest GimpShop only other app other than Photoshop i would recommend... That is speaking from my own experience BUT i have not tried paint.net..

Looked over at paints.net's site looking to features it sure looks promising :)

Either way Gimp or Paint.net (Free and powerful apps that) I think it will be all good, it's first when you get somewhat familiar with the app the magic start's to happen ;)

GL! i dont think you can go wrong here either way :)
