Buying a "soft" Copy

Just a quick question :)

Okay! So here I am, I have been reading reviews, watching videos, and dreaming about how I wish I owned this game!  Well, I am very intrigued by the "soft" Copy that you can buy and download.  Well I only have 1 concern, and I went to the FAQs before i came here, and my only concern is, if I buy a soft copy, will I be able to back my copy onto a DVD so I can store my game in case my computer crashed or something happens to the file?  If thats not possible, will I be able to retrieve a copy of the game in the event that something happens to it?  So my game corrupts or what ever, so I can go back, enter a receipt number or something, and download this again.

Thanks for any feedback!  I just wanted some insurance on this subject before I decided to buy this game!  Thank you in advance! :D

You can download as many times as you like. Once you've bought/registered the game, you just fire up Stardock Central and click the Install button. That's all there is to it.

You can also archive the package and store it away with a copy of the SDC installer for later use without redownloading.

Sorry got another question: Seeing that this game is cheaper to just buy in stores, I'm probably going to go that why, you mentioned something about after you buy or register it, you can redownload it, does this go for hard copies as well? Once it's registered you can download it online? I mean, I'm not planning to lose my copies (hell, I put every game I own in its original packaging when Im not using it)

Yes, you can download the game regardless how you bought it. You could just register the serial out of the box and never even take the DVD out, if you liked.

Yes, once you get the CD key from your hard copy, and associate it with your SDC account, you will forever be able to download the game again and again :D

Be aware that by going with the store version, you're giving up all the collectors edition goodies, including full color tech tree sheets, and a music CD. A very good soundtrack, IMO.

Not true! Some stores carry the collectors edition, such as Fry's Electronics. I personally got my copy there, and afaik, its collectors.
