Downloading and Patching

When i opt to download and archive in the Stardock program, how do I then use this download?, I don't seem to get the files working when extracting them into the Gal Civ directory...??

I want to download each patch, so that I can burn them onto a cd for keepsake.
But if I don't know how to implement them into the game, they won't be of much use now will they.

Under the file:archive menu there's an option to restore existing. As long as the archive zip is in the backup folder of the SDC program, everything should be cool. So back them up on CD, then if you want to install, just put them back.

Just tried it, worked fine.

The stuff in the zip that SDC downloads (like galciv.ex_), gotta be installed by SDC. They're most likely compressed, so can't be used unless they're installed properly.
