Question about patches, comments continued...

Hi,
Thanks for the post Norin, and RayChua(will get to ya email wise this weekend) I think I understand the scoring a bit better. :D
Basically if you finish off the AIs before you build up max tech, economy, populatin.... then you end up with a poor score. Kind of weird way to score. Seems scoring favors dragging any game out beyond the time you need to win, until you have max in everything then knock off your opponents with culture/military and boom... big score. Does not really take into account skill, but how long you are willing play and drag out a game. Yes, it does take skill to play, blah blah blah. But at some point I always know I have won, so I mop up. I proved this with a gigantic/crippling game the other day. Ran to Final Frontier and even though I had dominated the whole game, I only had a 1800. Seems the reality is to drag it out if you want a high score. Hold off the Final Frontier research or taking the final AI planets until you have everying built up to the max.
Also in my games, I had to turn off cultural victory because I always ended up dominating culturally before I had even 10% tech done. :notsure:

Basically this is the way to play as I see it to score:
1. Make sure the map you start does not place you in a corner, start in the middle somewhere with lots of planets, and the game set to abundant in order to have a HUGE population by end game(this in itself nerfs the concept of skill by playing a rare map).
2. Colonize, colonize, colonize.
3. Turn AIs against eachother, keep out of war at all cost. Usually AIs go at eachother anyways without much incentive from the player. Let AIs go at it. Buy your way out of any AI that declares war on you. Give em a planet in your most influential sector, you will influence it back to yourself eventually. Just stay ahead of them in the tech tree. Eliminate any real threat by getting AIs to war against them. Easy to do, just get all the Trade items before any AI and they make great bargaining incentives to manipulate the AIs.
4. Culturally dominate AIs through SBs and building up your influence through tech to take their planets without firing a shot. You want to lose as few soldiers/ships as possible.
5. Delay finishing game until you have developed every tech but Final Frontier and built up population on all planets to the max.
6. Mop up. Big score.

I believe that is the means to a huge score. ;)
