Shipyard Problem

Just for kicks, I checked my earth colony and noted that I got a 130% bonus to ships on earth due to shipyard, ship foundry, etc. improvements. However, I noticed that producing a ship with or without these improvements on my planet made no difference. The hit points, defense, attack, etc. values were the same regardless of whether the ship was produced on a planet with a shipyard (&etc.) or not. So what bonus if any does having these improvements give me? If there is none then I could just scrap the shipyards etc. and put the seemingly wasted maintenance money to use elsewhere.

The Starship bonus has been a bit buggy. It does work, but if you save the game and reload it, the bonus goes away. It affects attack, defense and hit points.

Is it fixable or should I just leave my game on 24/7 so I can enjoys the fruits of my shipyards? -jim

This is something I'm surprised hasn't been addressed yet. I realise coders like to work on what they're personally interested in doing, but fixing the reload issue with ship bonuses should have been far, far ahead of reinstating political parties and enabling high level AI routines.

Until I hear that it's been fixed I will continue to just not build these structures and stick to global bonuses which the game does handle correctly.

is the starship bonus supposed to be att/def/hp or just hp as stated in the manual?

I've never seen the bonus in effect even when I don't load my game. Maybe someone lucky soul could tell you how the bonus is actually applied.

Is this problem true with other imporvements as well or only those affecting starships?

I've seen the effects. Granted, I had Battleships at that point. I don't know if its supposed to be att/def/hp, but it might be just hp and got hit with the same bug Military resources had.

I just verified that in 1.02 I did get the correct bonus when I built my ship, but it was lost when I loaded a save game. Thanks for bringing this to my attention - now I know not to bother with these buildings. Does anyone know if this is fixed in 1.03?

Hmmm, that's strange, i don't have the game right in front of me right now, but i thought it affected only attack and defense, not HP. Up until you reload of course, at which point it affects the very important "diddlysquat" ability :)
