SDCentral application errors

I've started having problems with SD Central. When I try and download programs I get an application error

"The instruction at "0x00000000" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program, click on CANCEL to debug the program.

The log I receive varies, but for ORB, is as follows:

Download: D:\Stardock\SDCentral\data\public\orb\production\orb.xml 1
Load: D:\Stardock\SDCentral\data\public\orb\production\orb.xml 1
Download: D:\Stardock\Downloads\temp\orb.sdc 0 (attemp: 1, Connection was closed by the server, code: -19)
Download: D:\Stardock\Downloads\temp\orb.sdc 0 (attemp: 2, Connection was closed by the server, code: -19)
Download: D:\Stardock\Downloads\temp\orb.sdc 0 (attemp: 3, Connection was closed by the server, code: -19)
Result: Installation failed

On a related topic, I was surprised to see a post in the forum from someone else who had problems when uninstalling one of the games. When I tried it it managed to delete a number of files and folders in my C: directory, including most of my local settings profile info. Since I install files on my D: directory, I've no idea why it would look on my C: drive.

After spending several hours trying to undelete files, I got my system back in some order, but I didn't realise that one of the files deleted was ntldr. When I rebooted over the weekend I had to try and 'repair' windows. This had the effect of trashing all of my windows updates, and my normal profile. I'm now using a new profile which seems to be working reasonably well so far.

I tried reinstalling the SD Central v58 over the top of my existing installation, and my settings have been preserved. When I first ran it, it found v60 and installed it. The problems in downloading haven't changed.

I'm about to try uninstalling everything, then reinstalling sdcentral, then restoring the programs I have downloaded from archives (stored on a different drive).

However, for some strange reason I'm a little concerned about uninstalling...

I love the value TG provides, and have been a big fan of the entire system, including the sdc, but I need to know that I'm not going to lose my C: drive (or any other) before uninstalling any games in future.

Cheers,

Brian

We spent a lot of time combing through the code for build 60 last week in terms of uninstalling, because we had another report the week before about an issue like you've described.

We've also added code in there to make sure that if something were to go wonky with a buffer or the like, it can't remove files outside of the app directory.

I am having a problem with the current version, with downloading the new Political Machine update. Every time I update it it fails to recognize it as updated and as such attempts to update it every time I boot up the program. I don't know if this means the program is patched or not, but SDC doesnt recognize it as so.

We were in the process of releasing PM. You may want to try now and see if you get the same issue. Also do you have View->Show Pre-release versions on or off? If it is still not working for you can you tell me what version SDC is reporting itself as?
