Anyone who has ever used M$ Outlook email client must have found its Search functionality painfully slow, even Joel rants about it, i wonder what Billy uses for his email searches......
there are some plugings available which makes search in Outlook faster like lookout(Note: Not available for download now as MS has acquired the company), Joel tells us about that,
Fortunately, i never got to use Outlook much(if linux is your platform of choice, thats obvious
), i have always been an Evolution fan (Billy, try searching your mails with evolution once and you will get to know the difference), even if your organization is a MS shop and have implemented MS Exchange, you can still use it with the help of Exchange Connector, that too for free.....
As for now, i have been given Lotus notes to use for my mailing and collaboration needs, no doubt it provides lot of features and functionality as a collaboration and messaging platform but it has its own share of learning curve, it has a strange concept of databases for storing mails, you have to carry your notes file with you wherever you want to configure your email client, you have to remember some weird database names for acessing workspaces and lots of other not so common things........
In a nutshell, it is not a very intuitive platform to use and i hate reading manuals and tutorials for something considered so simple like an email client so still trying to find my way out of this collaboration and messaging maze !!!!
and, here is James Gosling in one of his not so common pics....
