need help on some questions

there are some things that are bugging me so if you can give me some advice I will greatly apreciate.

1 - Is there a way to rejoin the United Planets ? Somehow Im not part of it anymore and its making things difficult for me.

2 - How can I get rid of the I-league for good ? Its kinda ridiculous the way it dominates my planets with no resistance from my troops.

3 - After playing for days I still dont fully understand how the planet expenses work. So I have this planet that gives me 100 bc revenues and 20 bc maintenance. Why it actually costs 120 bc for me to maintain it ? where does the extra 100 come from ? I suppose it comes from the planet production costs but how exactly does the production value relates to this extra 100 Im getting ?

4 - This question has something to do with the previous one. For instance, I own 10 colonies each with 50bc revenues and 50bc expenses (10 coming from maintenance and 40 coming from "I dont know where" see my previous question). When checking the maintenance item in the stats section, it shows the real maintenance value, so what happens to the extra 40 bc ? Im asking this because even in the late states of the game most of my planets have the revenue value lower than the expenses. How can I revert this situation ???

thanks

COncerning the United Planets: Once you're out, you can't rejoin. The only two places to leave are in the Foreign Policy>United Planets Screen and on the United Planets Council voting window, so you must have left via one of those meathods.

It sounds like you need some basic coverage on Planetary Economics. First and foremost, you have to look at your Taxes and Governmental Spending sliders. These govern the amount of money your empire takes in and subsequently pays out. The money which is spent via Governmental Spending is split up among your planets to produce production points (mil/soc/res). So, to control spending at the highest level, move the Gov.Spending slider around until your Net Income is positive (this will solve issue #4 for you)

After this, you have the Mil/Soc/Res sliders. These govern how the money (which you've assigned with Gov.Spending) is applied on each planet. So if you have a setting of 60%/0%/40%, then 60% of your production will be applied to the military project there and 40% will be research. At the most basic level, each unit of production (shield/hammer/beaker) you see in the Planetary screen represents a 1bc cost. (this should tell you where the "mysterious" expenses of #3 are coming from) It is *very important* to note that this money will be spent on mil/soc/res regardless of whether you have a project or not!

Hmm, how does morale suffer if you have lots of money but are in the negaties in terms of /month income?

My experience is that morale doesn't take a hit until the treasury goes negative. When that number is red, fix it right away; that is very very BAD.

I guess I needed the basics on economics indeed :). Thanks a lot for the info.

Now, this leads me to another problem. (Considering that I have 20 planets) If I have to produce 1 dreadnouht that costs 500 and my best planet have a 100 military production force, its gonna take 5 turns to be built. Now the other 19 planets are gonna spend 100*5*19 = 9500bc + my 500 summing up to 10000bc total. I can buy it for 6880. Due to high maintenance cost I want to build only 1 ship. I really think there should be a per planet control.

I dont know how the I-league is taking over my planets, but Im sure that its not because of culture or influence. Its very odd and even if I kill all their planets it simply start taking over my planets again.

Indeed. Now that you get how planetary economics work you see the problem that many players are running into. Check out the "Wanted: Best solution for 'wasted' resources issue (Slider allocations to non 'active' projects" thread for discuss ad nauseum :) It's sticky, btw, so its right at the top.

Keep in mind that your spending as reported on the planet screen takes into account your supplemental income. If you make 600bc a turn (300 taxes and 300 trade) and have your spending set to say... 550bc, your planets will report they are spending more than they are making, which is in fact true. Perhaps each planet that has a trade route should take that into account on that screen.

I find it pretty plain as it is. "Earth has 100bc revenue and 300bc expenses, with 15bc maintenance" is pretty clear. I either assume that the treasury's getting sucked down, or that I have income from elsewhere. A quick trip to Domestic Econ tells me what I need to know.
