ObjectDock causes IE to freeze at Microsoft Windows update page???

Hello Members
I found that running ObjectDock at the sametime as using IE and going to the windows update website makes IE freeze at the point just when the scan had finish, showing you which updates Windows XP pro needs, if you 'quit' the dock Windows Update runs normally..

....has anyone got an answer, i try all the obvious things prior to quiting ObjectDock 1.90plus (empty IE cache, temps history), but found this was the only way i could use Microsoft's website service, i prosume i have the most current version of OD.

Anyone having this issue???

Regards

What version of ObjectDock free or Plus? What version of IE?

I'm on an XP SP2 32bit system with all upgrades and run IE7 and have not experienced your problem. Doesn't mean that it doesn't happen. Do you have any plugins or addons in IE?

Ive never run into this problem myself either. Although I am using the free version not plus.

A thought....

Are you running IE and subsequently WU from OD? OD runs everything under it's own process. Might be an issue with this for you. Try running IE from the Start Menu and see what happens.

One more thing. Try creating a short cut right out of the program files if you are running the latest IE on Vista. Then drag that onto the dock.

Happens here as well on clean install XPsp2 and random IE7 freezes Object Dock Pro . I've had to stop using OD because of these issues .Pity.

Thanks for all the replies, funny you suggested that DockofAges ("Try running IE from the Start Menu and see what happens"), i found out i had to do it this way when i first used OD and needed updates, i would manage to get the updates from Microsoft's website, but lately i've had to completely quit OD for Windows update to work, maybe it's as you say, activating IE through OD's own internet icon is no good for IE7.

I have also noticed a difference when using the satnav update software 'TOM TOM Home 2', it's not as quick to update when OD's running, i was thinking of running the Windows SFC tool, but i've been told that this can somtimes change a Windows os file back to an older version from the original Win XPpro installation CD, and then there are more issues...???

I think i'll carry on using it this way, in the hope that some update for either Windows, Objetdock, or TommTom Home, will iron out these bugs.

Well I will pass the info along to the developers. See if they have any input on the matter.
