How to start with extra resources?

I am playing the Areolian Sector map and have tried to edit the .galaxy file to change the values for player0: startingCredits, startingMetal, startingCrystal.

Nothing I set these to do changes their values in-game; I always start with the deault resources.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance!

i don't have the game files in front of me since i'm at work but there is files for each race in the GameInfo folder, this isn't exact but for say vasari it would be something like playerphase.entity, within this file there's options to change the starting resources etc, etc. Not sure if it works in premade maps but in beta it worked for the random maps. Of course to edit this file you will need to download the Sins Modding Package if you already haven't.

maxrsp,

Try changing the values for player1. player0 appears, in my Galaxy Forge creation, to solely apply to the player on Team 10.

Don't laugh guys but I still can't figure out this simple change...

There doesn't appear to be corresponding settings in the player entity files under GameInfo (yes I looked at the converted files from the Sins Mod Package).

The other intersting thing I noticed after several edits and restarts is that the game "seems" to randomize the player number relative to the galaxy file regardless of what team slots are used in the start game screen. Using combinations of three players (all races) in various team slots, the increased resource values I entered in the galaxy file would occasionally get allocated (but not to my player). I assume if I kept restarting it would happen sooner or later just by chance.

So my question now is: does anyone know if this is truly random, or is there a pattern I missed that maps the playerX: values to a given team slot?

Thanks!

I suggest you make a copy of the galaxy before you mess with it :/ And I think playerx gets assigned randomly. Just because you give player 1 resoruces doesnt mean you will be player 1 in game!

It seems several variations of this same question appear throughout the pinned "Galaxy Forge - Beginners Guide" thread... there is currently no way to ensure the player you select on the Team screen matches the corresponding playerx in the galaxy files.

Here's to hoping the next version of GF or the 1.3 patch addresses this issue.
