Just Installed Game...

...and can't run it.

Being a GCII player & fan, after listening to many podcasts, and reading recent reviews touting SoaSE I threw caution to the solar wind and purchased the collector's ed download two days ago. I finally installed it today and was able to watch the intro cinematic and get to the menu screen. However, when trying to set the game's display option to 1920x1200 the game crashes. There is an audible beep and the screen goes black but I still get the game's mouse cursor. I have to bring up the task manager and kill the game. There is a 'minidump' file but no other messages. I've tried setting the rez with and without Crossfire enabled with the same end result. I do not want to play SoaSE at a lower rez. What gives?

System Specs:

Intel Quad Core Q6600
2 x Radeon 256MB HD2600XT video cards
4 GB DDR2 RAM
Vista Ultimate 64-bit w/ SP1
24" Samsung 245BW monitor @ 1920x1200

Anyone with ideas?

Okay, after much experimenting I managed to get the game going. I found the settings file and manually edited the full screen resolution in there and saved it out. Game started @ 1920x1200 without any problem!

Go figure.

Now I hope it lasts. :)
