Ships won't attack orbital structures

Yesterday I encountered two somewhat annoying little bugs: I was allied with one AI and had just finished off the other AIs when I selected "keep playing" to finally deal with my ally. For some reason this did not cause his orbital structures to become target for my fleet-AI - my ships automatically killed the enemy's ships and reduced his planets to ashes but they ignored his structures. Even when I ordered them to kill the structures they repeatedly "forgot" their orders.
Additionally, after I had killed the last of his colonies through superior culture, his portrait remained intact. I searched the still uncolonized asteroids and planets for more than 15 minutes for a final colony until I realized that he was truely dead. :p

I have having a similar problem right now with my ex-ally's Metal Extractors. I cannot target them. =(

Same here - last night my fleets were not auto-attacking an ex-ally's orbital structures - it was a real pain to go in and explicitly direct attacks against all the individual structures (they wouldn't even attack hanger defenses - just stood around and got pounded on by the bombers). I was in the same situation as Mors - I had won with my AI ally and selected "continue playing" to go back in and finish them off.

If you had a peace treaty with them this will happen temporarily. If you go to the diplomacy screen you can see a count down next to go to war. Until this countdown reaches 0 you cannot attack your former ally.

I don't think it was an issue with the "go to war" countdown - my fleets were auto-attacking enemy ships - just not the orbital structures. I will double check the timer though.

It's not related to the timer. It took me almost an hour to finish off the AI and the problem remained until the end.
