Multiplayer ICO Issue

Sup everyone. Like so many others, I have a ICO Multiplayer issue. I have opened up ports 6112, and 6000 (Both TCP & UDP). I even put my router into DMZ, Enabled and Disabled UPnP. I've pretty much tried everything unless I'm missing something else... Whats happening in game is that every time I try to host a game it tells me people can't connect to me, I can only see like 5 games out of probably hundreds, And I have a hard time connecting to other people. PLEASE HELP!

Too bad we don't have an online ladder or a tracker, well we might have one but I have no clue about it - perhaps blame laziness on my part =(

I too have my DMZ enabled when hosting, it gives me the same message and anyone can join my game - just because it gives you the message doesnt mean no one can join. Host the game and give it 5 minutes, people join new games fairly quickly (if they're reasonably named and have a decent name).

I am fairly confident that if you have your DMZ open you can host minus some other variables like software firewalls.

The message is a false positive, probably related to NAT, and no matter what settings you change your always going through a NAT on a router. You will be fine with just 6112 open, nothing else, as DMZ is kind of extreme measures.

I hope so. But I cant explain the "Rejected by Host" errors I often get.

Do you have the update Ken?

Are you still getting these errors all the time?  Is it possible that you are trying to join a game and it is already started?  The next time that happens refresh the game list and see if that game disappears.

Again, to quote myself from a previous post:

quoute from sticked thread in the "technical" forum (post #30):[b]

@ EVERYONE - IMPORTANT

I have seen that message from IronClad "...Most people will not be able to join your game...." everytime I've hosted since the first 2 or three games I hosted (and I haven't changed anything on my end). The games I host are still able to be joined by EVERYONE and everything works like a charm! What this means is, that IronClad have intruduced a "connection checking" method on their end which takes into consideration WAN ping, IDENT (maybe), open ports, etc. If you fail even one of those, their message pops up. While ping and ident are an easy way to see if a host is online or not, they're not required at all for the actual "connection process".

To re-cap, seeing that message from IronClad doesn't at all mean that it won't work. Ever since they setup their "connection-testing" I've been getting that message as well. I don't allow WAN ping or IDENT so I'm assuming that's why my setup "fails". In any case, I am able (and have many times now) to HOST without any issues whatsoever!

hope that answers the questions relating to the "message" from ICO.
