cannot connect to IronClad Online

???

every time I try and create an account to Ironclad online to play multiplayer the game and press accept, the game seems to do nothing for a while then says Network Error Disconnected from ironclad online.

is there a certain port it meant to use as I'm in student accommodation which has some ports blocked?
help??

My friend and I have the exact same problem. We followed all available directions, enabling ports, etc., even going so far as to turn off our firewalls. I use wireless and a hard copy of the game, he uses a cable and a downloaded copy. We have played plenty of other games together online with no problem. So it is definitely not our connection, or our computers, or something to do with our copies of the game. However, we bought this game for the purpose of multiplayer. Any help would be hugely appreciated.

port 6112 must be opened both ways!

6000 is the port you use to connect to the ICO service.  Please make sure you are also allowing that port through on your local machine firewall and through any router you might be using.

As stated, we opened up the ports. In fact, 6112 was already opened due to our using it for other games. We do not control the router, since we are on a campus router, but we have never had a problem like this before. I know from reading the forum, we are not the only ones with this problem, but the request I sent in to technical support 2 days ago has yet to see a response. 6112 is definitely not it, and 6000 is at least opened on our computers, and I cannot imagine why it would be blocked on the router when no other ports have been blocked before.

If you read my posts you'll notice my testing has determined that Windows OneCare and Windows Defender "silently" block SINS. I haven't test other security software.

I've been in touch with MS about updating their product suite.

The people I've helped have had to (in the interim) actually kill the windows processes I listed in one of my posts.

Ya, I turned off defender, and don't even have OneCare, and still, nothing. I look forward to hearing if getting the school to open the port on their routers helps. I'll do the same on Monday. Got a buddy in campus IT, so hopefully he might figure something out if it is, in fact, the school blocking it. Appreciate the suggestions.

I have the same problem. I bought the game believing that obtaining a multi connection would be as effective and intuitive as the myriad of "new" and "older" games I have, guess I was wrong. Anyone from SOASE have a clue as to the problem?

how about some VERY VERY VERY SIMPLE directions for those of us who are lees computer savvy??

Are we to understand that you got your drivers license without "learning" anything new? hehe

Between the existing forum posts on the subject of port-forwarding, firewall-excepting, sites like (www.portforward.com) a handy little tool called "google" and the opportunity to post in these forums for clarification of instructions (that is after you've read everything the devs and community have offered up their time and effor to put here for you) I'd say you've got everything you need at your fingertips.

If you want it (being able to host/play) enough, you'll invest the time to learn how to implement the instructions provided (something my kids have heard from me many times....hehe)

Those in the community who've shown an effort in implementing the intructions provided have been successful and are now happy hosters/gamers.  :D  Sometimes they needed some clarification which we in the community were more than happy to provide.

cheers!

Correct me if I`m wrong..but I believe "Stardock" (the folks I bought and downloaded SOASE from) responded that the same name and password used for their site was all that was required to log on to the ICO servers? As for the requirements to obtain a "Drivers License", evidently, they are easier to understand than those required to logon to ICO, as I`ve had one of those for 45 years without a single traffic infraction. ;)

Point taken.  :D

Please read my guide (linked-to from the stickies) and I will clarify anything you need help with. I can't do the actual "port-forwarding" etc. for you though (unless you'll spring for a plane ticked, hotel etc.  :) ) So you will have to try to understand some instructions. You know that driver instructor.......as annoying as he was.....you did listen to him didn't you? hehe

Anyway, I'll be around to help.

p.s. If all you're trying to do at this point is login to the multiplayer lobbies, then you do have to "create" an account from the multiplayer menu, and once that is done click "add player" to add your multi-player persona. Then you're in the multiplayer lobby. If you are having problems connecting to the games/hosting you'll have to read and understand some of the technical posts in these forums. :)

ICO accounts are separate from SDC/forums accounts.

When I first tried this game last night, I got the same error.  I calmly waited for the next day assuming that the service was down.  It still didn't work.  I searched the Internet and found that the problem was OLD and ongoing.

Inexcusable.  I haven't even played the game yet since I purchased it to play with a friend online.  I have owned computers since 1985.  I have done my time tinkering with settings since I installed my first 5 MB hard drive.  Those days of spending an hour or two tinkering with settings are long gone for just playing games.  The online games that I bought in the last few years didn't have this problem.

If a company can't keep up, it needs to go out of business.  Don't support this company.  I know I won't.
