Question about retail box vs. digital downloading

Does the regular retail box of the GC2 Gold edition allow me to download the game in the future if I lose my disc? Or can I only do that if I buy the digital download + CD version from here? I'm trying to figure out the differences between all the different ways I can buy the game, before I pick it up. Thanks!

Yes, if you download Stardock Central and register your GC2 key on there, you will add it to your account and so be able to download it any time you want.
