Runtime Error

Hi,
strangest thing happened. Played Sins since :) release now and this evening, all of a sudden i got a Visual C++ Runtime error when trying to start the game. Did not change a thing.
Ideas?

Found reason but no explanation. Apparently it is due to my galaxy forge map. I played it for two days now, but for whatever reason I can't even load it into the Forge anymore. Will create error too.

Here's what the Forge says: (please excuse German comments)

System.Runtime.InteropServices.SEHException: Eine externe Komponente hat eine Ausnahme ausgelöst.
bei new[](UInt32 )
bei Iron.DynamicVector

Happened to me also while playing a 10 peep game. About 1.5h into it got a Runtime error but no log (don't know where it is).

Got runtime error twice today...didnt have any problems 2 days ago..
Seems to happen a while in a game for me...

Yea same here, seemed to happen only in a particular random map I was playing. I would reload the last autosave, play for a couple of minutes, then bam, runtime error. Generated a minidump file once too.

Seems pretty stable otherwise though.. Fantastic game!

I'm on Vista Basic 32b. What you chaps on?

Vista Business 32b. I suspect it might be an issue with that particular map/savedgame i was playing..

Benji, can you upload that map somewhere or send it to support@ironcladgames.com?

Psugar, do you want me to send my minidump file + the saved game that seems to be causing the problem? I appears to occur around 5mins or so into the saved game when I move my fleet into the neighbouring system.

Getting an extremely similar problem, started giving me a runtime error the past hour, been running perfectly fine up till now, except right after i had partially finished my map in the forge i wanted to test the phase lane length in game and started getting this error.

"Runtime Error!

Program: ...Gaming\Sins of a Solar Empire\Sins of a Solar Empire.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information."

althought forge continues to run perfectly fine and the map loads in forge perfectly fine aswell.

never even managed to get in to game to run the map at all.

I found my problem. Unknowingly I created an Artifact on one planet that was not written correctly. As it seems that Sins loads maps right at the start you get an error. When I deleted my custom map and loaded the old version, everything was alright again. Checked by loading new one and Bingo got the error again. Deleted it, and working. As for random errors, could it be that the random map generator produces such errors?

I think I've found the problem too. I turned down all my settings to High from Highest, and I've been able to play about 2 sessions of 3 hrs each without any nasty errors. No clue how this is linked to the other problem related to the map generator though...

I have also the settings on highest.. will try to set to high and see if i get same problem..

I'm having the same problems. I just got the game yesterday, and I haven't been able to finish a single match without that error. It's making the game unplayable because I can't finish any of the maps.

I am running with the settings all the way up on Vista Ultimate 64-bit.

Give it a shot on high settings. Chances are you won't even notice the difference. :P

I set settings to high instead of highest and viola, no more runtime error. Played 2 4h matches since without problem....on my end atleast...i hate droppers

Got it yesterday, hoping the vista patch would fix it. Well it's 2 good a game not 2 have some relese problems.

Same error here.

C++ Runtime error. Just got the game in the box.

Had the BETA running for a long time. BETA experience taught me that I must uninstall and then reinstall.

I did that, twice now, and I still get black screen hang, and then if I ALT-TAB after about 5 minutes I can see there is a "C++ Runtime error, must shut down" message.

Any help for this?

Is there nothing I can do for this?

Where else can I post to get help? Do I have to edit the registry to get this to work?

I am at a loss here.

There are a number of people with this issue, and the devs are investigating it. As soon as they have news I'm sure they'll post it, but until then, there's not much to really say.

Thanks. I wish there were some log generated that I could capture and send in. I appreciate the response.
