Bought This Game based on Company

I bought this game today based almost completely on the wonderful support and customer service/interactivity of Stardock. I just read the basic overview, knew I enjoyed the genre generally, and bought it without a second thought.

I hope other game companies take note of this. Fancy marketing, hype, TV ads etc. pale in comparison to the simplicity of releasing a finished, well-made product and continuing to support and nurture it like ones' child...

Thirded! I preordered not even 5 minutes after seeing a little bit of gameplay video.

Haven't regretted it for a second :)

yeah been lurking these forums lately, I've never seen such involvement with the fans/customers. It's almost creepy
I gotta agree, the friendliness helped me push towards buying the game.

I've been part of Stardock's community for a few years now...mostly from their skinning programs and it's a wonderful community.

Stardock isn't a normal company, that's for sure. I am not sure what the reason is but I'd hazard to guess it's because it's run by one guy (Frogboy) who tends to look at things from the customer's point of view. Then, in turn, others who think like Frogboy tend to join in.

Look at Ironclad, they're a lot like Stardock. You'd think they were seperated by birth as both teams seem to have the same good attitude about games.

I have a social contract with Stardock. I buy their major products sight unseen and they put their names only on things that are really really good and so far, I've never been disappointed in the 6 years I've been a customer.
