Noob first campaign

OK, I have played GalCiv 2 and just about every RTS out there. I have never played this game however, just getting into it in the last few days. So I go through the tutorial and I think I have a good grasp on what it taught me. Now, with so many campaign choices, where should I start? Big campaign so there is more room for error? Small so i won't be overwhelmed? Medium to balance it out? And with each size, there are so many scenarios. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

Dude try it out yourself and see what you like, you don't need to ask people where to start. Trying different things yourself is part of the experience........

I'd start on a fairly small map with a single ai, and see how that works out :)

I agree go 1 on one to get usesd to the controlls, once you get the hang of it youll be craving 8 player FFA's with all the diplomacy and pirates and backstabby goodness

Yea, neither of you guys were helpful really.

I would go with what psugar suggested. And after you have the basic controls down try a medium map, so that you can gather enough planets to research you way upt the tech tree and see what makes each race really unique. That way you can pick one or two to polish your skills with.

I'd say start with the smaller maps first. That way you'll get a better feel of the game and how to proceed with regards to which units to buy and which technologies etc.

Awesome. Thanks guys. One of the best communities of any game(and we all know how whiny and mean game communities can be).

Oh don't worry we have our mean side, but we tend to convine our selves to small petty rivalries. And since you are new you aren't part of them... yet haha :D

1 more thing. Are any of the races not for noobs(i.e. you must really know how to play to really use them or some other reason)? Thanks again

No, you should be able to play any race as a noob. I do think that the TEC is likely to be the most intuitive for a new player though.

Matt seriously mate no offense but grow some balls and try it out for yourself?

The other races are more... deviant from typical RTS norms. Though in my opinion it wouldn't matter which one you start with. I personally like the Advent cause their names are very basic and easy to figure out(their scout is called a Seeker, a support vessel is called a defender).

The hard thing to do is master another race once you got used to one of them. This is mostly because each race has quite an extensive list of their own unique abilities.

So start with anything you want. :)

Or I can be smart and ask veterans their opinions instead of coming here and saying the game sucks and is too hard.

Try the Fluffy Rabbits Race mate, their capital ship's are equipped with weapons that overwhelm their opponents with bubbles and rainbows............

Oh danosh, I've met people like you before.

Sadly, I don't think you'll fit in well here.
I wish I could say it was a loss to this community, but I sadly can't.

Good day :)

I think I'll just leave it at that. I just can't understand people that need to be hand held to this extent...........sorry.

Ohh Great Emperor you don't know me from a bar of soap mate seriously. My comments aren't that harsh so relax, I've stopped now anyway.

Good day to you old chap!
