Stupid Count Down Question

I'm sure this question ranks right up there with the "fuxxor, when did they remove the FPS mode with the gun that shoots like, wormholes in walls that you can wall through and eat cake..." but, if the game is going to be released for download on Feb 4th, why does the countdown show it'll hit zero on Midnight, Feb 5th? :)

The countown is only approximate, not least because it's based on your local clock.

cause it's a simple bit of javascript, not anything actually accurate. It's actually synched to your system clock to add that extra bit of unpredictability. Can't wait :d .

The rough answer was in the Q&A tonight.

I recall reading "late Monday evening GMT", i REALLY hope he said morning and not evening. X-(

I believe they are based in the USA to the east.

Do not quote me on any of this, wait until the Q&A is cleaned up and released.

The only reason i can see them delaying the digital download release is if the extra hired server guys (mentioned in Q&A they are putting the download on a external server or something so the DL rate doesn't take a dive like a cliff jumper without a parachute) are having a brain fart. That or they are running around mad like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off trying to stuff as much extras into the Day 1 update like trying to stuff a 2 gallon bucket of dressing in a still live turkey.

I'm hoping for #2 if they are late.

Well fair enough, an hour here or there is understandable, but datediff() should still come up with the right day shouldn't it? We're not talking about a timezone difference, I mean the hard parts are actually right: hour and minute, just the day seems a bit wonky. So you're saying on your particular machines it currently says 2 days 1 hour and 58 minutes go to?

Eh, as long as I can download it Monday I'm a happy camper... but I would find it uproariously ironic that the most impressive and finely coded game I've seen in a loooooong time has a wee bit of a hiccup on the release counter.

No worries, just found it a fun little easter-egg. :)
