Clarification about pre-order purchase...

A while ago I pre-ordered Sins of a Solar Empire and have been playing the beta ever since. If I remember correctly, I was charged $44.95 at the time with the understanding (if I remember correctly), that I would receive the digital download and the boxed copy of the game? I don't have the receipt here at College, so this is being drawn from my memory, so it's entirely possible I'm wrong. Now I'm seeing that a boxed copy is $5 more than the digital download. For clarification purposes: If you paid $44.95, you are getting the digital download ONLY? How would I go about upgrading to a Collectors Edition, and is there some website or some forum where I can check the status of my pre-order?

Thanks in advance!

One quick thing I just noticed. I clicked the "My Account" button and went over to Registration and found "Sins of a Solar Empire (DVD Preorder)". So I assume that I will be receiving the Collectors Edition?

If you didn't use TGN tokens to preorder, and it says (DVD), it sounds like you're getting the box. And yes, you're getting the collector's edition automatically, because Stardock is awesome that way ;)

That option is only for those who ordered download-only (TGN in particular) and wish to upgrade to a box. If your registrations page says DVD, that's what you've got. All box pre/orders will be filled with CEs until we run out.

Now that does make me worry a bit myself.. As I pre-ordered it for 44.95 back in March 2007. When I go to the Stardock store to check the order, it shows it as a CD preorder copy of it. Does it actually mean the CE DVD copy of it? If not, anyway I can change it or upgrade it?

It's the same thing. The description has gotten tweaked a bit over time, but it'll still be a CE box.

Thank you ^.^ I really hope it at least is the DVD copy of it.. I hate dealing with all those CDs

All direct orders are Collector's Edition.

It's a 3 pound package.

Not to beat the dead horse, but does this mean that pre-ordering does not guarantee a CE box? If that would be the case, would there be a way to opt for waiting to receive a CE when they are available (after the release-day ones are gone)? If there is not enough, how is the distribution handled? Do those who ordered first have first grab, or is it by some large steam-driven sorting device?

From past experiance, they are (very) good at overestimating the needs for CEs -- I ordered my GalCiv 2 a few days after release, and still got the CE.

I'm not willing to open a new thread for this question so I'm sorry for maybe "highjacking" yours.

I've predred sins DL+DVD on January 9th and I got e-mail notification but I can't see preoder status anywhere inside my account over stardock central. Did something go wrong ???

Thank you.

Nothing's wrong, you just can't see it there because they haven't charged it (and won't until February 4th). I think you can email sales@stardock.com if you want to confirm an uncharged pre-order, though ;)

Pretty sure the horse is glue by now... :P

You will get the Collector's Edition box. When we run out, assuming we don't print more, we will post a news item about it. I doubt we'll run out of CE boxes for a couple months, however.

At the time I pre-ordered Sins (early last year)the only option for me to get into the Beta was to get a Total Gaming Subscription and use Tokens to get it. Using the Total Gaming method did not give me the option for anything other than the Digital Download. Now that I know about the DVD CE option..I would rather have that...is there anyway to adjust my order or am I stuck?

It would shock me if a company like Stardock would penalize me for ordering early?

You will be able to email sales@stardock.com on February 4th to upgrade to the CE box.
