Sins goes gold discussion

February 4 is the day

After more than a couple of years of work, Sins of a Solar Empire has gone gold. What an incredible journey it's been.  For the past year, Stardock, the developers of Galactic Civilizations and Ironclad, a new company made up of developers who worked on Homeworld: Cataclysm have been working together to try to create a 4X RTS.

Stardock and Ironclad pushed the release date back a few times to ensure that there was plenty of time to incorporate the features they wanted in as well as time to implement feedback from the public beta.  The final result, the team feels, speaks for itself.

Below are some pictures from the last data of testing...

Sins of a Solar Empire will be available at retail next week.  Pre-orders will be activated Monday, February 4 in the evening EST. Regardless of where you purchase the game, you will be able to re-download the entire game via Stardock Central.

But Stardock Central is not long for this world. A new creation is coming...

That startup gadget screenshot really is quite stunning, the contrast of the SoaSE logo (which has always looked great) against a calm green back ground photo somehow just works.

Its like Ayres Rock, Australia surrounded by dense green foliage and a clear blue sky.

A question for stardock. Since the game went gold why customers who preodred through Stardock central can't have the game yet ???? Why we need to wait till febuary 4th ???
The question has already been answered, and it's because they have to honor the street date. Retailers they have contracts with will get really pissy if Stardock allows full version downloads before the promised release date.

'Tis how businesses work :P

It's because retailers don't like anyone getting the game before them so Stardock plays nice and doesn't release it for download before the release date.

Considering the fact that in Europe stardock doesn't have any retailer for this game yet at least euro guys should have some linience but then it would have been unfaire for US+Canada.

P.S.

Sorry for double question. I didn't see that there are 2 threads about gold version.

only 1.02GB? that's awesomely tiny :D  i was worried i'd be on ages waiting for the thing to download and then i get disconnected  X-(

SDC has download resume built in, IIRC, so even that wouldn't be a problem :P

Does this mean the gamma version will make a quiet appearance on stardock ;)

Congratulations Ironclad :)

Downloaded Beta 4 yesterday after pre-ordering, and if this is primitive, i can't wait until monday.

I personally think it's great timing of Stardock/Ironclad, to release this the day after my exams, exactly when I have a week off. :CONGRAT:

Is it possible to buy the special edition in store, rather than ordering it online?

No, only direct from Stardock.

Edit:

If your concern is you don't have a debit / credit card, you can contact sales and they'll make arrangements to accept it via cashiers check.

Nah, I was just wondering. Thanks anyway.
