Recycle Bin not working when Desktop Icon Hidden

I have hidden the desktop Recycle Bin with Xteq because I don't like seeing it on the desktop when I already have it on the dock. The ObjectDock icon works in every way (shows full/empty status, allows me to drag files to it to delete), but when I click it it doesn't open the Recycle Bin. Is there a way I can relink this icon so left-clicking it will open the Recycle Bin? The other option I've tried to work out is just assigning a clear icon for the Recycle Bin on the desktop, but it won't let me rename it so I still have this text floating out there. I remember being able to change the name of the Recycle Bin in older versions of Windows -- is there a way to do this if the ObjectDock icon can't be linked? Or will ObjectDock not be able to find it if the name is changed (since it can't find it when it's hidden)? Using ObjectDock Plus v.1.90 u535, Windows XP SP2. Thanks!

You could try using the TweakUI hide Recycle bin instead of the Xteq.  It might be an issue with it.

Zubaz: I found TweakUI easily enough...install was very easy and the program is clean and simple. It removed the Recycle Bin with no problems and the ObjectDock icon still works. Thanks a lot for the tip!

hmmm...object dock - can be used in lieu of all desktop shortcut....

why use a 3rd party app just hide stuff when a simple 'right click' on desktop > arrange icons by > uncheck 'show desktop icons' will suffice? :NOTSURE:

I sometimes use the desktop as a staging area for files that I am about to send out or that I need to review in a timely fashion. Since I don't normally keep icons on my desktop, these highly visible reminders ensure that I get done whatever it is I need to do. Hiding all icons would prohibit me from using this method. Most of my transient files are stored in a temporary directory, but since it is out of sight, it is often out of mind. :)

Not to mention that the wallpaper gets pixelated when you use that method to hide the icons.

haven't had that issue - seen a couple of posts

it does mess with autochanging wallpaper with some things like Natural Desktop
