Applications doesn't start with ObjectDock anymore

Hello,
I'm using ObjectDock 1.9 Free version with Vista since a few month already.
Dispite some tool crashs everything was working fine.
However, since some days I'm not able to start several applications anymore.
When I start MS Outlook 2007, the Vista AeroStyle is disabled for this programm.
Some other applications as ACDSee are not starting anymore at all. When I start this programm it crashed withing 5 seconds. Same behavior also for other programms. As a workaround I need to start the applications as a administrator - then everthing is working fine.

I already uninstalled the programm and reinstalled it again, but still the same :(

Does anyone have an idea what has happend?

Did you try to clear the cache?

here is the quick version of the clear cache

Go to start > run and then copy this into the command line:

%userprofile%\local settings\application data\stardock

It will open a file folder. Delete the ObjectDock one. Be sure to save before doing all of this.

Yes, I uninstalled the tool, removed the stardock folder from the mentioned folder. In addition I cleared the registry with RegSweeper in order to get rid of all StarDock entries. Then I re-installed the version again, but still the same problem :(
Something has happend to this VISTA version - don't know what :(

Any suggestions are welcome

Does the Stardock software work when you log in as a user with administrative priveliges?

Yes it should. It can also run with privalages.

I don't want to run everything with Admin privileges - this doesn't make sense.
As I said, the programm is running properly when I start the app with admin right. Some applications are running fine without as well. Just a few are making trouble :( The strange thing, it works before for several month without any problem.

Ok, everybody miss-understood when I tried to be brief, that's what I get  :LOL:  Now for the verbose approach.

1. As you are logging in now, does the Object Dock software itself start up fine without running it with Admin rights? (Here, I'm not talking about launching applications from the dock yet, just starting Object Dock itself.)

2. Do the other non-Stardock applications that you are having trouble starting from Object Dock need to be run with admin rights if you start them from the default Windows Vista "All Programs" menu?

I'm having trouble understanding exactly where your problem is starting, but we'll try again  :) .

Hello DaveRI - now its understood ;-)

1. Object Dock is starting without admin right - tool itself is running fine. (at least I couldn't see any issue.) Also some non-Stardock applications started with Object Dock are running without any problem.
2. The non-Stardock applications having trouble starting from Object Dock are running fine when they are started from VISTA Desktop or Startmenu without admin right!

Applications having problems in my Object Dock are :
MS Outlook 2007 - is started but without AeroDesign
ACDSee 10 - PhotoManager - is crashing during startup
The Bat 3.99 eMailClient - is crashing during startup
some other german application are crashing during startup as well.

Again, all those applications are running properly if started from VISTA Desktop or Startup Menu, or when started with OD with AdminRights!

Ugh.

Only thing I can think of is to create new entries in the dock by dragging the shortcut icons of the problem programs directly from the desktop or startup menu into the dock, and see if the new dock entries work. It doesn't seem likely that it would help, but it might (???) if you haven't already tried creating fresh dock entries that way.

Someone else might have better ideas, or you can always try Stardock Support WWW Link and reference this thread.

Have to wonder if it's the result of some obscure Vista security "enhancement" patch.

Hi,
thanks for your reply. I alreay removed everything and reinstalled Object Dock with Default entries only.
I used the default 'email' button to get my default mail client (outlook 2007) opened. It was opened, but also without the AreoStyle design. Opening as admin solved this problem again. Thus, problem occurs already for the default entries, not just customized :(
