Ok - as some of you already know we have just joined the forums and are slowly but surely gearing up for the release... In short - we are bunch of naabs eeeeeeee :D

We know that some (most!?) of you have been testing the game for some time so here is set of hopefully easy and rather naaby questions :)


1. Gameplay: are we talking about "classic build rush" here or indeed something else? For example if player A knows what to build / research first it will own player B who still doesn't know the winning formula - Or does player B indeed stands a chance against player A cause his micro / strategy is better? Difficult question - i know but would be cool if someone can feed us in :)

2. Lobby: is there any clan support present? Ladder of some sort perhaps?

3. Lobby: are there any stat system / ranks / ladders for individual players present?

4. Lobby: are there any chat channels in lobby? in short - when we log in can we see who is online and who isnt - can we chat with guys who are online and invite them for a game?

5. Lobby: is there any match making system?

6. Game: can we record replays?

7. Game: are there any shitty exploits that players discovered and that devs still didnt address?


That will do for now ;)

sounds interesting for sure but in that case why not simply make RTS/4x version of EVE itself!?!?!

not really sure what to say to be honest... going back to first reply to my post made by Mr. Fraser himself - i would probably say its way easier to create few robust and competitive MP ladders than dive into huge stuff like "meta galaxy conquering" - at least for the time being anyway...

my 2 cents anyway :)

Because EVE is just not the type of game that can be translated into a strategy game without shedding most of what makes EVE.. EVE :P

Very true indeed but you get my point... To me "meta galaxy conquering" sounds awesome, no doubt - however, it also sounds like Sins 2 rather than just something that can be done "overnight" - while at the same time making robust, fun, working MP ladders shouldn't be that hard and would surely boost competitive aspect of the game and therefore attract more players to it...

Saying that my logic can easily be screwed up as well :LOL:

For this to be done rite yes it would pretty well have to be Sins 2. I agree that the ladder thing he was talking about could be cool. I just would love the epic feel of watching massive player made empires wax and wane with alliances between players, espiongae, and massive empires made up of conglamerations of players or one or two really good ones, duking it out in interstellar space. :HOT:

Actually, a meta-game like TA's boneyards could be done very easily and very quickly, and (strictly speaking) wouldn't even require any game-code manipulation.

Just have a galactic map, with different in-game maps representing each "node" on that map. (You can even re-use various maps in different places :D ), and have each race control a specific section of that space. Any given node will be controlled by one race, and if that control is in excess of X %, then they can "assault" any adjacent node with it. If an assault is launched on a given node, that basically means that player of race Y is there to play a game -- and a player of another race gets to meet him, and whoever wins tilts the balance of control in that node to their side. As a result, the more battles a race wins, the more they control that node. Once they reach a certain point, the enemy can't use that node to attack deeper into their territory, and after another point they can use that node to attack deeper into enemy territory.

you are right... it doesnt sound that complex after all and in theory shouldnt be hard to do it too! I am guessing here of course, but reading what you just wrote makes a lot of sense indeed...

No clue. Don't know who made that decision, and I've hated it the whole time.

Of course, it does spare them with dealing with all sorts of stupid sig-based issues, but that can't the reason reason :D

My guild already has plans for a post-release tournament. One of our guildies is even offering to supply the prize, and oh-boy is it a nice prize.

You guys do need to give us some time to catch up though hehehe :LOL:

I am all up for tourneys of any sort - and as i said before - even more up for developers officially recognizing / implementing them into the game itself :)

To be honest, I've actually been thinking of a bit of a project in that regard, depending on how well the MP community takes off. I want to tie it into the set-up background lore for the game ;) I'm still brainstorming random thoughts and need to wait and see how Sins becomes at release, but eventually when I have a more complete proposal I intend to run it by the dev team :P

Nobody knows beyond speculation on the TEC's Novalith Cannon. They're not in the beta :P

Ok, if it doesn't have a large effect, its not a superweapon.

If a superweapon doesn't have a cost to offset its large effect, then its not balanced.

Sins will be balanced, or at least pretend it is.

Ergo, large effect and high cost, as above.
