msvcrt.dll Error When "Applying Changes"

I did a search on the forums and couldn't find anything related to my problem so I figured I'd ask. Sometimes I will get an error whenever I am in Window Blinds 6.01 and I try to "Apply Changes". It's a Windows error that asks me to send it to Microsoft. Most of the time the error will deal with msvcrt.dll. Only once did it deal with wblinds.dll. I did some googling on msvcrt.dll and I'm still not exactly sure on what it is and why I get the error. From what I gather late at night, something else is using a certain path to that specific .dll and whenever Window Blinds tries to use that same path, they clash and create an error.

Does anyone have this error and have any clue on how to fix it? Help would be much appreciated!

Please to help us to help you can you provide your systems informations they look like this:

WindowBlinds version : WindowBlinds 5 (5.51 (build 97 x86))

WindowBlinds is installed correctly on this PC

WindowBlinds appears to be activated on this PC

Your machine does not support per pixel borders on WindowBlinds skins.

This is because :

Your computer graphics hardware does not support acceleration of per pixel alpha. WindowBlinds requires this for per pixel alphablended borders as without it performance would be poor. Please see if you can obtain new drivers for your graphics hardware. Recent ATI & NVIDIA boards should support this feature. Onboard graphics tend not to.

(Écran Plug-and-Play) 1 is attached to GIGABYTE RADEON 9200

Wblind.dll Date hour
Wbsrv.dll Date hour
Wbconfig.exe Date hour
Wbload.exe Date hour
Wbhelp.dll Date hour
Wbui.dll Date hour
Tray.dll Date hour

you can find it by right click on the Windowblinds system tray icon and under "system information" on the WB application
click the top right button "copy text" and past it here

If you've got an older OS like Windows 98 you could try to resolve the issue with this WWW Link.......but it appears to be for older OS's and my guess is you have something newer  :)

Yeah I found that too and realized it was meant for older OS's and I'm currently using XP Home.

OK, I don't think this is going to solve the problem but before going any further you need to get the latest version of WB6. Most of those files are out-of-date. Please go to Stardock Central and download/update to the latest version WindowBlinds 6.02 (build 42 x86)..........Reboot your system and then copy and paste your system info on this thread again  :)

Well I just tried to do the update process and it seems that I have the latest build...6.01. Where are you getting 6.02 from??

Stardock Central with show pre-release versions checked

Your system info should look like this: WindowBlinds 6.02 (build 42 x86). The installed version showing in SDC should be 6.01c[b].106, if you are using the show pre-release versions(betas). If you are using a non beta version I'm not sure what your system info should look like. Why don't you send a ticket to support with your system info and reference this thread. I think that would be the best way to get help with this problem.

6.01 is the latest official release. I'm just gonna stick with that. I'll let them work any kinks out of the beta, 6.02. I think I will send them a ticket. I am currently working with them about another problem I'm having with WindowBlinds. If anything, that is one thing I can say about WindowBlinds, it seems that it can cause a lot of strange things to happen, especially if your skin was not done well.

I have had several iterations of Windowblinds including beta releases and have yet to see any "strange things to happen" with any of the skins I have tried.

I'm not as lucky as you are. As of now I'm going to try and disable it to see if it helps another problem I'm having and then I'm going to uninstall, remove anything that has anything to do with Windowblinds, and then reinstall. A fellow named Mike has been great with helping me try to solve the mysteries behind my problems. I'm grateful for great technical support as this seems to be a lost art with many companies.

EDIT: Well I just found out what my "OTHER" problem was and it had nothing to do with WindowBlinds. I think Mike will be just as surprised and happy as I am as he doesn't have to waste anymore time trying to figure it out. As for my .dll issue, I uninstalled WindowBlinds, ran CCCleaner, Defragmented with Diskeeper and for the moment it seems that all of my problems have gone away. And Windows is running quicker than ever. Before things seemed to lag such as startup and applying skins. Hopefully everything stays this way as I'm a happy camper. Thanks for the help everyone. It was appreciated.
