Objectdock and default browser

I seem to have a problem with objectdock and setting a default browser. This seems to only happen with Maxthon. I was using Maxthon as my default browser and I went to switch it to firefox. For some reason, objectdock is still launching Maxthon when I click on Internet related stuff on my dock. This happened once before and I ended up having to get into the hidden folders and deleting the settings, thus starting the dock over from scratch. This is a pain, and it only happens when trying to default another browser from Maxthon. All the others switch without any trouble. Anyone have any ideas or solutions other than deleting the settings file manually to reset objectdock?

I am using the free version, version 1.90 build 534 running on XP Home w/SP2

Have you tried removing it from dock and then put it back after changed default browser ?

or should be able to right click on icon on dock and go in and change target for it to firefox.

Actually yes, I've tried both of those suggestions and object dock doesn't seem to care one bit. It still launches maxthon when I open a web page from there.

You might look to see if there are setting within Maxthon and Firefox that need to be changed.

If I were you, I'd modify the properties to launch maxthon.exe with teh URL as a modifier
Somethign like:
"C:\Program Files\maxthon.EXE" https://www.wincustomize.com

Thinking back on all this, I remember what I had to do last time. It wasn't deleting the settings that fixed it. I removed Maxthon completely from the system (which broke the links in objectdock). I had to dig through my registry and manually delete all the entries for Maxthon. I wish now I could remember which string was the one that did it, but I don't. I know this means it's a lingering setting, but I have no clue which one. I would do this over (as much fun as it was the first time) but I don't want to drop Maxthon completely. I still use it from time to time.

If you still plan on using it, why not put FF and Max on your OD? I have IE and FF on mine and they both work fine ;)

The trick is if you just have a URL.  What browser gets launched?
Again, I'd just hard-code the shortcut to launch a specific browser with a URL rather than a URL and hope Windows picks the right browser.

I had Maxthon set to default, then I set Firefox to default but Objectdock was still launching Maxthon. I got it fixed now. I went into maxthon options and set IE as default, then went into Set program access and set FF to default and then it started working right. That only happens when switching from Maxthon though, not the other way around.
