WB6 on XP SP2 - Firefox and control panel applets fails to load

After I installed WB6 (not trial), I couldn't start Firefox or control panel
applets. If I click on them, no response. Also, right clicking on desktop
does not bring the Properties menu either.

If I uninstall WB6, they work fine.

Any ideas...?

Please go to WBConfig to the "System info" tab, click on the "Copy text" button at the upper right - this will copy the system info to the clipboard.

Come back here & paste the contents of the clipboard in a reply here. That will get the ball rolling.

FWIW, first I've heard of either issue with WB6 on XP - I'm running SP2 & have no such problems with either FF, CP or desktop right-click menus. Are you running any Explorer extensions?

It appears I can reproduce this consistently. I installed WB6 2nd time and Firefox wouldnt start. I will provide the info you asked tomorrow.

Any workaround for this? This issue consistently happens on my system. Tried
it for 3rd time.

Event with Right Click installed, clicking on the Desktop|Properties menu does not bring up the Display Properties dialog. Other issues with firefox and control panel still exist.

RightClick would probably not help bring up the display properties dialog anyway, as this really just gives you a customizable right click menu when you right click the desktop.

One thing that appears out of place is your wbui.dll file, which may very well be the culprit here. Try uninstalling WindowBlinds, restart the computer, ensure that file is not there after restarting and then try reinstalling it.

If you still have the same problem after this, could you please send in an email to support@stardock.com, attach the wb6.log file from the C:\Program Files\Stardock\SDCentral\Installed directory and reference this thread?

Thanks!

p.s. One more thing you can try in the meantime as a workaround is holding down the Ctrl key while launching an application. This should start it unskinned by WB.

Since I've tried too many times, I couldn't activate WB6 anymore.

Give them a call - they'll reset the activation for you.

If I hold Ctrl key, then firefox starts fine. Other issues also disappeared
once I start to do this.

I will send the log to support. I'd like to get a fix for this. thanks
