DreadLords ships for DA and TA?

Is it possible to use old ship designs in the expansion packs? IE the ImperialShippack v2 dont show in Dark Avatar or Twilight of the Arnor.

Thanks

The ship design file format was changed way back in DL 1.2 as I recall. That particular pack uses the old format, so it's not even compatible with DL 1.2+, let alone DA/TA.

Beside that though, DL 1.2+ designs should be usable in both expansions (and DA designs in TA), though you'll need to do a bit of file renaming or moving to get them in there. Don't expect designs to be backward compatible though, as they likely will contain new parts or features that didn't exist in prior editions of the game.

Care to extrapolate a little more on the process itself, since i sometimes really miss some of the old designs (and or full Race templates) found in DL 1.50+.

Just as an example, the Yor's "big circle-like colonizer" wasn't transfered into DA.

Beside having to create (or copy as is) a new fleet and list it after the defaults of DA with a new tag such as "DL - Yor whole fleet" and then simply click to select or replace anything. (S??, and template files included).

Please...

For that particular example, You'd need to find the Yor colonyship shipcfg file (S2_ColonyShip.shipcfg, I think?) in DL's data folders, copy it to My Documents\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar\ShipTemplates, rename it to S5_UD_T_YorColony.shipcfg or something similar, then make a corresponding .xml file for it (you can just copy that from another colony ship design, and change the model line to point to your shipcfg).

Thanks for the quicky solution, Kryo.

I thought i had read a similar comment somewhere but couldn't remember where or when it was made or still is.
Although "copying/modifying" a WHOLE race files would be a fairly large task using the above workaround, it may be worth testing out.
