Ventrilo & Multiplicity

Push to Talk Stops Working

I've been a long time user of Multiplicity and am a dedicated online gamer. I freqently have problems with my Ventrilo's push to talk, it will stop working if I mouse out of the primary machine too often. I haven't been able to identify an exact pattern of behavior that would stop this from working but I would imagine it has something to do with they way Multiplicity is hooking keyboard/mouse operations conflicting with how Ventrilo does the same...

Would it be possible for the guru's at Stardock to talk tot he Guru's over at Flagship and figure something out to resolve this?

Thanks,

Will

I'm not sure what would cause that interupt however what I would suggest is what I hooked up at home. The second PC runs the voice chat software. I even set out the second keyboard and made push to talk a key on the board. This often clears up having to run both the game and your voice chat with the same comp.

If you mouse off the computer where you have the voice chat on you will not be able to run it. The keyboard is then designated to the computer it is connected to.

Not feasable, I run 3 machines, sometimes 4, only 1 is a constant. Sometimes the left machine is my girlfriend working, sometimes the work laptop is present sometimes not, and the 4th machine is running my DVR software and can't take any extra CPU strain so I can't put Vent there...

An extra keyboard is certainly not an option either, I run a primary player in the raids, which means I need full ability to communicate at all times while maintaining full control of my keyboard/mouse. I'm often chording multiple mouse buttons (up to 3 at a time) and multiple keys (up to 5 at a time) so an extra arm would be required for push to talk on another keyboard, and last I checked CompUSA doesn't sell arms ;).

Please note that this is NOT a problem with Synergy, however synergy is no where near the product overall that Multiplicity is, which is why I gladly purchased your software when free alternatives exist.

Any support here? I'd call tech support but like most folks who can afford to actually buy software I work M-F 8-5 (and as a bonus I have a 2 hour commute) so your support hours are really completely useless to me... this is my only path for support.

I would really like to get this fixed...

I have this same problem, it is very frustrating. If I push to talk on the main pc, and scroll over to the secondary while still talking, and release before moving back to the primary, it will keep the push to talk button down. Creates some quite embarassing moments when you don't know your key is still pressed.

Could we get an assignable key that "syncs" in the same manner Num Lock and that do?
If I could assign my push to talk key as a sync key it would solve the problem (I use "end") for me and possibly others.

Are you on the lastest beta of the software?

version 1.20j[rc].027

This beta is available through Stardock Central.

Didn't know it was available, just installed it. I'll be using wow and ventrilo tomorrow night so I'm sure it will manifest if it's a problem.

Tried this out this morning for about 20 minutes, Ventrilo stopped responding to push to talk 5 times during this period.

I did update the developers on this. No fix yet but they are aware now.

Is there an updated status on this?

Multiplicity really has been great for dual boxing and I'd like to stick with it, but I'm afraid this problem will cause me to have to pursue another solution.
