Wow Foxthree, maybe you wasn't here when Drengin made this awesome Transformers mod, It was not a while ago, and I think that he still holds the title of the Transformers mod. No offense, but most of what you use is taken from other games, such as the music, I played your "Wolrd of Warcraft" Mod, and the Intro screen is taken from the game itself. Not sure everyone will accept it.

Okay, I can kind of go with you Master U on the "title of the Transformers mod" part... But the "...is taken from other games..." part I have to ask which mod that is based off of a SciFi universe doesn't?

Star Trek Mod - Takes things from the Star Trek Universe already made
Star Wars Mod - Takes things from the Star Wars universe already made
Bab5 Mod - Takes things from the Bab5 universe already made
Hitchhikers Mod - Takes things from the Hitchhikers universe already made
TMNT Mod - Takes things from the TMNT universe already made
Stargate Mod - Takes things from the Stargate universe already made

Infact, even Drengin's Mod takes things from the Transformers universe already made. Hopefully foxthree will try to work with Drengin or at least talk to him first, but who knows. At the very least hopefully he won't just pull the stuff out of Drengin's mod, add to it and call it his own.

what renfl said is true almost all mods made have to have some form content taken from somewhere ealse other wise it wouldint be a very good mod.But also what master U said is true also so its up to whoever wants to try it.And just let you know I made the T.M.N.T mod as well as the stargate mod.not the big one being made right now but that will hold everyone over for now.And drengin 1or two of the images used may be yours couldint help it could not find any other images so im really sorry.and to make up for it im uploading my new and improved logo pack tommorow which will contain over 102 custom done logos.

I think you should mate.

Has there been any discussion between you guys or is this a competing mod?

Modding is just a process of combining different resources (Doesn't really matter where it all comes from, unless someone WANTS to be fair to the originals and relatively accurate about the source.) into one coherent package which "feels" like the real thing.

Take something i'm currently working on; X-Com.

I own the games, i can get plenty of alternate material right off the web in numerous places. Everything i plan to integrate into the final X-Worlds mod will absolutely be some strictly exact reproductions of the X-Com series stuff. Say again - EXACTLY like the real thing. As a mark of respect for the excellent art done by previous designers.

Under "the fair-use" rule, most graphics found (even here in already made Mods) elsewhere or in someone's computer are considered valuable assets when developping total conversions. Without it, one would have to redraw and work on "new" material for months even years before a reasonably nice set of files can be assembled. Players wouldn't have access to anything cuz nobody in his right mind would even want to tackle the huge amount of hours... just to pack a Mod which may stay untouched or never d/l by anybody.

See, it's free. It's got no obligations, no purpose other than adding features to a GC installation for anyone to get or not. I'd say it also increases the value of the game, gives replayability factors, suits the need of downloaders when it does.

As for, doubling MODS... i find it quite interesting since competition forces Modders into a sort of quality output mode, pushing the egde ever so slightly that the NEWest version may just be more appealing than what the other guy just did. Consumers win. They always get the best.

Using Copyrighted "things' is another story which i will leave to corporate lawyers to debate. In the meantime, i will not be stopped from gathering whatever is necessary to DO the best X-Com immersion mod that i can. Although, CoSh was denied by an SD-Moderator (and, i really understood why!)... nothing prevents me from redesigning the whole concept and its images to "stay under the radar", while trying to guess what may be alright and re-submit for approval. Caught in a loop, because i truly believe it would be great if GC players could play against SpiderMan, Batman, Gojira, KingKong & Superman, etc!!

There always will be some new kid-in-town whom may just prove us all amateurs when compared to what can be achieved with talent and patience. It takes years to develop skills, just a few minutes to use intelligence wisely; as a result, MODS do get made and roll along the highway of selectable choices. The museum is open, hang up your entry, fakes may fool you - but the creepy stuff still IS there.

Without variety, any game can rapidly get boring enough to simply, abandon it.
Modders do it for FREE, btw.

AYE MEN ZYXPSILON! Well put. I agree 100 & 10% and can't wait for that X-Com mod, I love that game and I'm extremely curious to see what you come out with.

You did not seem to understand me correctly, Renfl. I said, it is taken from other games, not universe. The Star Wars Mod, which I am happen to be a member of, creates most of its stuff from scratch. I made most of the things, It's safe to say I am talented enough to do so. But some of our things are taken from the Net, and in that case, we ask permission, our models for instance taken from EvilleJedi's work. The Improvements and textures were my creation, inspired by the game "Empire at War" Since it's the latest game which uses Improvements. The Movie part of the game is yet to be created, but when we get to that, we won't be taking the movies from other games, like I said, credits will be given and we will ask permission. That's what I meant.

Welcome to the Fan-club of what is "possibly" the best PC-game of all time... if i may be so tilted towards the franchise. My opinion and of many more hard-core gamers out there.
Too bad that title had to go through a number of corporate hands to be scrapped, altered, enhanced, fiddled and simply raped of its fundamental nature; Tactical strategy along with terrific gameplay features. Won't expand much on the details, but i'll stress on this though - the Gollop brothers were waaaayyyy ahead of their time - back then.

I've got all the races made (images/logos) already and the zip is still pending approval. I keep updating the files (almost daily, in fact - may have to revise this pattern later and pre-compile the sum of all that work in weekly/monthly submits).
So, you may get the latest copy **if** you're fast enough! ;)

Until then, it's back to work overhere. Let's just hope i find more spare time to pull this off... within some relatively reasonable delays; i'd say a "playable" format/version sometime in January with the essentials (as described in the current zip's readme).

X-Com & Fallout have always been two of my favorite games/series - Now the Fallouts that game out available for Consoles I thought were such a damaging thing to do to the series, but thats another thread :-)

Fallout3 though looks like it will be sweeeeeeet.
