Crash on Save

The weirdness continues

Like many people, I've been having lots of out of memory errors with 1.8e and 1.8f. The weird thing is, all but one of mine occurred during the save-game process (often, but not always, autosaves. One did occur during the setup of a very big game, with abundant stars and planests in a huge galaxy.

What is even more unpleasant is that Smart Exception has not been generating its .zip file reports, making it difficult to report the problem. I have sent in a bug report by e-mail, though.

Has anyone else had this problem?

P.S. I'm on a brand new computer with 4gb RAM, and I've been running with up to 45 gb VM. I give it the option to go up to 60gb, but it never takes it (?!?!).

That much VM could actually be counter-productive. As a rule of thumb, you shouldn't set it higher than twice your actual memory. Or at least that's what I always use as a guideline.

Many/Several people are having that same problem General Pants. Including myself.

I really hope someone from Stardock reads this and makes the call to pull off from TotA to fix this bug that is causing people to stop playing the game that have out already.

(look through the forums, people are saying they are going to stop playing for a while)

I'm all for the new expansion pack, but if bugs that were fixed are resurfacing, well take care of whats broken before building a new better one.

Is that in TA too or in another version? Are you getting the 'out of memory' error when it happens?

and in the TOA beta it crashes when i try to acess the planet governor.

Please put TA reports in their own threads in the beta reports section. For crashes, make sure to use SmartException to capture details for the devs to debug with. For details on SE, see the 'making beta reports' sticky in the beta forum.

Which is a problem for me, because SE hasn't been doing what it is supposed to do. I'm going to try to reinstall when I get a chance. I'm assuming I'm the only one having this problem.
