I've found several icon packages out there to change it's look and feel, but how in the world do you change them?

Double click on the .dockzip, navigate to your library folder, and edit with an image editor.

The easiest way is through Theme Manager.

So to tweek something so little I have to have an entire other program?

I checked out the program. It only handles themes, not individual docklets. So that's not going to help. I'm not running a theme, I custom changed everything, I saved it so I could load it later, I looked in the theme directory and it's no where to be found.

Dude, you are all over  the place and I have no idea what you are really trying to do.
