This is only a prologue for the story I plan to write detailing how my custom race, the Lutarines, came about. I'm mostly puting it on here for some feedback, so go ahead and give me some criticism, just don't absolutely bash me...
"Gah! I can’t work under this kind of pressure," running his hands through his graying hair. Mark sat behind a desk in a large room filled with the best and brightest of Earth working on a top secret project.
"What’s that Mark?" said Ro.
"Nothing, I just can’t work under the pressure knowing the Drengin could barge in here at any minute."
"You wont need to worry about them just appearing. There would be a lot of screaming and the sound of explosions ripping everything to pieces before they even showed up."
"That’s not funny, you know what happened in the assault of Mars," retorted Mark.
"We can’t afford to have you lose it, you’re our lead scientist on this project." Yes, I know that, but all these long weeks researching how to make dogs sentient beings is driving me up the wall
, thought Mark.
"I mean really, why do we need extra soldiers for this war? We’re surrounded by an impenetrable shield. Even if we were to leave our little safety bubble our augmented forces of humans and our Frankensteins wouldn’t last long against an army of billions! On top of that we don‘t know if something could go wrong with the shield, letting the Drengin right on in."
"Just calm down. We do need the extra troops, but that’s not all, Allan’s put some other scientists working on more powerful weapons."
"Whatever." resigned Mark seeing that this argument wasn’t going anywhere.
Ro then walked back to his desk content that he had alleviated some of Mark’s stress. Just a few more days or weeks and I’ll know we’ll have it done.
Finally alone at his desk, freed of the nuisance called Ro he could set back down and get this dang project over with. Although it would only to go back home to his empty house that once housed his three children and beautiful wife. He thought about that day a lot, several times a day in fact. It was his motivation for working on this project, he wanted to get back at the Drengin for what they did to him, even if it was just a small splinter in the finger on the arm of the mighty Drengin Empire.
The Drengin had invaded Mars about two years ago with their full might. At the time Mark was employed at a research academy near the martian equator. He didn’t want his family to come along, but they did anyways. It was just like any other day, that is until the Drengin fleet emerged from hyperspace and proceeded to blast the surface from space.
In the initial blast his family was killed. At least they didn’t have to see the horrors of Drengin weaponry. He had managed to escape to Earth with his life. Now two years later Mark sat behind a desk formulating some way to get back at those demonic Drengin. Every last Drengin just needs to die and leave the galaxy a better place!
Without realizing it Mark had dosed off, he was tired than he wanted to admit. He’d only slept for about 9 hours this entire week. Mark didn’t know how long he’d been out but he was unpleasantly awoken by someone with a rather irritating voice yelling, "We’ve got it, we’ve got it!" I hope this isn’t just a hoax
, thought Mark as he got up and walked around his desk to see for himself, still groggy from his "nap".
